STATE OF THE SCHOOL REPORT MEETING &

2014 2015 CONTRACTS

Tomorrow evening is the State of the School Report. It is one of two mandatory meetings that parent/guardians must attend. If you are unable to be attend, please contact the school office. If we don’t hear from you then we anticipate that you will be there.

Contracts will also be distributed. Individual families may take your own. Please do not take for any other family members. Attendance will be taken by the number of contracts picked up.

Your support is always appreciated. Again, thank you very much!

50TH ANNIVERSARY

We want to reach out to the larger community and invite families to join the planning committee for the 50th Anniversary. Dates have ben set, but the activities /events still need to be planned and organized. There will be a meeting Monday, April, 7 in the Tech Lab at 6:30 PM. If any families are interested in helping you are most welcome to join us.

SPRING CONCERT

Please mark the date: April 10, 2014 Spring Concert. Student attendance is MANDATORY. The students will receive a participation grade for music. If for some reason your child will not be able to attend, please share the information with the teacher. If a students doesn’t attend and the teacher isn’t informed before hand your child will not receive a passing grade. We really count on everyone being there except for illness Thank you so much for understanding and for your support!

INTEGRATING TECHNOLOGY INTO THE CURRICULUM

Integrating technology into the curriculum is more than going to the Tech Lab or using a cart of laptops or iPads. Using technology as a tool for instruction provides a variety of ways of presenting information, providing technology options for students to participate in content skills, but mainly it allows students the opportunity to create and share new learning using these tools. Common Core State standards call students to move further into acquiring and using Bloom’s Taxonomy, which are higher order thinking skills emphasizing the way students analyze, evaluate and create knowledge/information. Engaging students and providing them with the tools to empower them to gain deeper understanding of new learning can efficiently be done using technology in the classroom.

March 26, 2014 Dear St. Bede School Families, This letter is being written to inform you that there is a change in school policy regarding medication. Previously it was stated inhalers, epi-pens and insulin were required to be kept in the school office. However, the policy now says the following:

! Students who need an inhaler, epi-pen, and/or insulin may carry this type of medication on their person. The students who need anyone of these medications should carry them throughout the school day in a fanny pack or small backpack to use when they need it. It’s important that the medication is not lost or misplaced.

! Other medications in pill form and/or in liquid form including cough drops must be kept in a locked drawer or container at school and administered by the secretary as prescribed by the doctor. The school still needs a written note from the doctor regarding all medications to keep on file.
