What is an angiogram?

What is a Cath Lab?

W h a t h e l p w e c a n t a k e f ro mAngiography?

An angiogram(angio - vessel, gram - study) is an imagingtest that uses x-rays to view your body'sblood vessels. Physicians often use this testto study narrow, blocked, enlarged, ormalformed arteries or veins in many parts ofyour body, including your brain, heart, abdomen, and legs. In arteries are studies, the test is also called an arteriogram while inveins, it is called a venogram. To create thex-ray images, physician will inject a liquid, called "dye", through a thin, flexible tube, called a catheter. The physician threads thecatheter into the desired artery or vein froman access point. The access point is usuallyin your groin. This "dye,” properly calledcontrast, makes the blood flowing inside theblood vessels visible on an x-ray. Thecontrast is later eliminated from your bodythrough your kidneys and your urine.

A catheterizationlaboratory or Cath lab is an examinationroom in a hospital or clinic with diagnosticimaging equipment used to support thecatheterization procedure.

Your physician may wish an

angiogram to diagnose a variety of vascularconditions, including:-Enlargements of the arteries, calledaneurysms;-Kidney artery conditions, calledrenovascular conditions;- Problems in the arteries that branch off theaorta, called aortic arch-Malformed arteries, called vascularmalformations; and-Problems with your veins, such as deepvenous thrombosis (DVT)or blood clots in the lungs called pulmonaryemboli.

Yes, your physician may beable to dissolve a clot that he or shediscovers during the test. A physician mayalso perform an angioplasty and stentingprocedure to clear blocked arteries during anangiogram. Angiogram can help yourphysician plan operations to repair thearteries for more extensive problems.

The procedures with G.E.International –USA are already settled andthe facility will be open to the people of

Can we treat some conditions with thisprocedure?

When will be the facility available atSSIUH?

The Silent Killer by Prof. Chhin Senya (Head of Internal Medicine Dept)

Hearing Loss by Prof. Matela Ivan (Prof. ENT & Head -Neck Dept)Hearing loss or impairment or deafness is afull or partial decrease in the ability to detector understand sounds. Caused by a widerange of biological and environmentalfactors, loss of hearing can happen to anyhuman that perceives sound. Those wholose their hearing later in life, such as in lateadolescence or adulthood, face their ownchallenges, living with the adaptations thatmake it possible for them to liveindependently.

Loneliness and depressioncan arise as a result of isolation (from the

inability to communicate with friends andloved ones) and difficulty in accepting theirdisability. The challenge is made greater bythe need for those around them to adapt tothe person's hearing loss. Many relationships can suffer because ofemotional conflicts that occur when thereare general miscommunications betweenfamily members. Generally, it's not only theperson with a hearing disability that feelsisolated, but others around them who feelthey are not being "heard" or paid attentionto, especially when the hearing loss has beengradual. For these issues, any person whofeel a gradual hearing loss should select

quality hearing aids for hearing.

The patient willfeel confident with the use of Hearing Aidsand small enough to detect while wearing.

TheSSIUH welcome you with the best qualityhearing aids in Cambodia.

AIDS stands for: Acquired ImmuneDef ic iency Syndrome. Since i t sidentification in 1980s. Today, there are anestimated 40 million people living withHIV/AIDS and each year around twomillion people die from AIDS-relatedillnesses. AIDS is caused by HIV. A personis diagnosed with AIDS when their immunesystem is too weak to fight off infections. There fore some time we write HIV / AIDS.HIV is a virus that gradually attacks immunesystem cells.

T

A person is diagnosed withAIDS when they have developed an AIDS-related condition or symptom, called anopportunistic infection, or an AIDS-relatedcancer. he infections are called'opportunistic' because they take advantageof the opportunity offered by a weakenedimmune system. AIDS can be diagnosedwhen the number of immune system cells(CD4 cells) in the blood of an HIV positiveperson drops below a certain level.Worryingly, many people think there is

‘cure' for AIDS - which make them, feelsafer, and perhaps take risks that theyotherwise wouldn't. However, there is stillno cure for AIDS. The only way to stay safeis to be aware of how HIV is transmitted andhow to prevent HIV infection. Since 1981,more than 25 million people have died fromAIDS.An estimated two million people diedin 2008 alone. In the memory of those whodied of AIDS and make safer our futuregenerations, we celebrate every IstDecember as World AIDS DAY. It isencouraging that the figures for prevalenceofAIDS patients in Cambodia has decreasedsignificantly from 3.7% to 0.9 % .On this important day, The students of IUperformed a stage drama “ The HumanImmune Hunter” to bring awareness in thecommunity. It was written and directed byProf. A. Anderson, Virology department -IU. A large number of students watched theprogram and appreciated the efforts of Prof.A.Anderson.
