Special Effects – Post Production
How I achieved the ‘face’ effect in Paranormal Mind
![Page 2: Special effects – post production](https://reader030.fdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022032620/55cbccf1bb61ebb57d8b45ed/html5/thumbnails/2.jpg)
Getting Ready
• In order to create this effect, I used Sony Vegas Pro 13 which I personally own.
• I pulled the clip of my face, (which we are using to achieve the effect), that was filmed on a green screen, onto the timeline after importing it.
• The clip is now visible in the preview window.

Getting Ready
• On the layer below, I dropped the clip which we wanted to have the face overlaid onto.

‘Green Screening’
• After this, I used a chroma-key effect to remove the green screen, leaving just my face.
• I also chose the correct colour required to achieve the best chroma-keying effect, adjusting the threshold bars in the menu to change this also.

The Main Effect
• After this, I closed the Chroma Key effect menu, and moved to the layer of the timeline of which the green screen clip was held, and clicked on the ‘Compositing Mode’ tool.

The Main Effect• This opened a menu of options, and I
clicked ‘Custom’, bringing up another menu.
• Then I clicked the ‘Sony Height Map’ and then OK, to apply that effect.

The Main Effect• This brings up a new menu, with
settings that I changed to achieve the desired effect.
• The preview window has changed also, with the disappearance of the face and a lump on the video on the second layer.

The Main Effect• At this point, I changed the default
settings (left) to different setting to achieve the better effect (bottom).
• The new settings are accompanied with a preview of the new effect, which is the sort of effect we want to achieve for the ‘manifestation’ or possible entity in the production. And that was how I made it.
