Mindful Mini Many of us have heard the phrase “does it spark joy”, coined by Marie Kondo on the Netflix series Tidying up with Marie Kondo. The phrase is part of Kondo's "Konmari Method," which helps peo-ple declutter their homes. People hold an item and ask themselves "Does this spark joy?" If the answer is yes, it goes in the keep pile, and if the answer is no, it goes in the trash. As we reflect on 2020, the keep pile might be quite a bit small-er than that trash pile. With that said, we still have the ability to mindfully cultivate joy not with our things, but with our relationships. Here are three reminders on how to do that: Calm your inner critic: This year we may need to change our expectations or create new traditions. Be kind to yourself and appreciate the moments in front of you. You may be surprised by how joyful you will feel when you mindfully tweak something you have “always done” to something new Don’t just gather, CONNECT: We may be spend-ing time with our friends and loved ones in a very dif-ferent way this year. You might find that a to house. Zoom is now a household word, and may allow us to joyfully celebrate with loved ones without a drive or flight. We may also find that technology gives us the opportunity to reconnect with friends and family we would not otherwise be able to see.

quiet morning with just your immediate family
