Ingredients: 3 and 3/4 cups of all purpose flour 1 and 1/2 cups of water 1 packet of active dry or instant yeast 1 tbsp tablespoon of granulated sugar 1 tsp teaspoon of salt 1 large egg Coating options: Savoury: 1 tbsp tablespoon of coarse sea salt Sweet: 1/3 cup of granulated sugar mixed with 1 tsp teaspoon of cinnamon Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. 2. Stir 1 packet of yeast into a bowl of 1 1/2 cups of warm water (microwave for 1 minute), mix together and then add sugar and salt, mixing with a spoon. 3. Next, add the flour and mix with your hands until the dough is no longer sticky. 4. On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 3 minutes and shape into a ball. Cut the ball of dough into 1/3 cup sections and roll each section into a rope with an even diameter (they will end up being about 20 inches long). 5. Once you have your long rope, take the ends and draw them together so the dough forms a circle. Twist the ends, then bring them towards yourself and press them down into a pretzel shape (or twist rope twice for an easier shape). 6. Place pretzels on a baking tray lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking and lightly brush with melted butter, sprinkling the cinnamon sugar mixture on top, or beat an egg with a fork and brush the egg wash, coating the pretzel with sea salt. Bake for about 10-14 minutes or until golden brown and raised. Serve and enjoy! Preparation: 25 minutes Yield: 12 servings SUPER EASY SOFT PRETZELS 13 OCT
