Put simply, social networking is a way for one person to meet up with other people on the Net.

What is Social Networking?

Page 4: Social networking and blogging

It saves time. In our busy lives, making time to schedule face to face meetings doesn't fit into our schedules. We can "catch up with one another" as time permits.

Meeting others with similar interests is

easier.

As emails, addresses and cell phone numbers change throughout your life, you always have a constant place to reach someone.

Why do people use social networking sites?

Page 5: Social networking and blogging

Using a social networking site brings like minded people together for chat, conversation, exchanging ideas, and even meeting in real life. Social networking has become an extension of "sitting around the camp fire" and discussing life events.

Social Networking enables you to reach out to OLD friends and classmates, relatives who migrated to other countries, and even connect to people with the same profession as yours for collaboration and discussion of ideas.

People who like the same things you like, or listen to the same music you listen to, or need the same thing you need.

A place to add your photos, let people view your videos and listen to your favorite music.

What Will I Get Out of Social Networking?

Page 8: Social networking and blogging

No way! Most of the people on social networking sites are over 30. That's not to say that there aren't a lot of teens and 20 something out there, there are, but they're not the only group.

The "older" crowd has a lot to offer, and it is recommended that they get out and do just that. Join a few social networking sites, find old friends, meet new ones. Offer up help where you can. Maybe even create your own social networking site.

Isn't Social Networking Just For Teens and 20 Something?

This means creating an account and telling a little bit about yourself which is like introducing yourself in front of the class. With other features like blogging tools, uploading photos, videos and music, joining forums and writing comments, you get to personalize it and tell people more about who you are which is something that a lot of people appreciate.
