Reasons for Kyudenko developing the “Kyudenko EMS”

Internal combustion power is still the main form of power in

remote islands/areas

There is a high cost of transporting fuel to remote islands/areas.High CO2 emissions.

Installation in Practice or Schedule

u Allows on/off-grid power generation control using only renewable energy, without the use of fossil fuels.u Power generation control utilizes a DC circuit (DCBUS), eliminating the need for frequency and power

factor control etc. in comparison with AC control.u Daily EMS operation management can be performed online, allowing remote monitoring and operation.u Can be used as an independent power supply for specific applications.u Adopted as Ministry of the Environment Subsidized Project.u Adopted as JICA Subsidized Project.u Patent acquired (Patent No. 6235061)

Realization of an independent power supply of 100% renewable energy

Figure: Overview of Huis Ten Bosch Demonstration Facility

● With the cooperation of the Huis Ten Bosch Technical Center we constructed a 100% renewable energy power generation system within their villa area (completed in July 2015).

● Developed an EMS to control the efficient supply and demand for energy, with a demonstration project underway.

● At the end of 2015, Kyushu Electric Power lines were cut off, with all the needed electric power covered by the power generated at the villa management center.

Implementing an overseas demonstration project on Sumba Island, Indonesia, as a Ministry of the Environment Subsidized Project

Stable power from renewable energy sources is supplied with our EMS to the microgrid operating in the Western part of Sumba Island (population about 650,000). Attempting to provide stable power supply from renewable energy as the regional power grid

Existing Facilities Improvement Target

State in which proper power supply/demand operation is not possible, and power generation and storage are not constant

By controlling the generation and storage of renewable energy by EMS, it is possible to autonomously supply stable power for a fixed time/in certain amounts.
