Slough Trading Estate Pallet Collection Scheme The Service Working together since 2007, SEGRO and Shorts Group have been providing a pallet collection scheme dedicated to businesses on the Slough Trading Estates. The service is operated by Shorts Group Ltd, an accredited Waste Management Company established for more than 50 years. The scheme offers an environmentally friendly way to dispose of unwanted pallets which otherwise accumulate, are a potential fire risk, and a health and safety issue. How Does It Work? It couldn’t be easier, once you have subscribed to the service just contact us to arrange collection on a frequency to suit your business. The pallets will then be collected by Shorts trained operatives. On each visit we will issue a ticket for counter-signature. This then gives you peace of mind that your Duty of Care responsibilities have been complied with. The SSE (Slough Heat and Power) Power Station on the Slough Trading Estate is one of the UK’s largest producers of green energy and makes a substantial contribution to fighting climate change. The centre uses 300,000 tonnes of wood fuel each year to deliver heat and electricity to businesses and residents in Slough. This saves 500,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year – equivalent to taking some 100,000 cars off the road. Pallets to Power – turning your pallets into energy! Pallets collected from businesses on the Slough Trading Estate are taken to the Shorts Group Materials Recycling Facility in Ascot. Here they are processed and turned into wood chip fuel for the SSE renewable energy centre (Slough Heat and Power Station on the estate). Essentially, your waste pallets are recycled locally and returned as fuel to generate environmentally friendly heat and power for your business.
