To that end, the Shomrei security committee, ably led by Sasha Zakharin, met on Monday evening to discuss additional ways in which we can protect visitors to our Shul. We will be instituting additional security measures, some of which will be apparent to all while others will, out of necessity, be inconspicuous. One recommendation that was repeated by federal and state law enforcement officials is the importance of restricting access to at-risk facilities. What this means is that the Shul doors will remain locked. When the guard is present, the main front doors will be open and monitored by the guard. At all other times, the Shul will be accessible only via the combination locks on the Shul doors. It is imperative that the doors remain locked and not be propped open. If you see a door that is open, please close it and make sure it is locked. If you do not know the combination, please contact one of the Gabboim, any Board Member, or the office. Finally, if you see something that doesn’t look right, bring it to the attention of a Gabbai, Board Member, or member of the security committee. Everyone’s security depends on communal cooperation, and we are only as safe as the weakest link. I thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding. May the families of Joyce Feinberg, Richard Gottfried, Rose Mallinger, Jerry Rabinowitz, Cecil Rosenthal, David Rosenthal, Bernice Simon, Sylvan Simon, Daniel Stein, Melvin Wax, and Irving Younger be comforted amongst the mourners of Tzion and Yerushalayim, and may we know no more anguish and pain. PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

The murders of 11 of our brothers and sisters in Pittsburgh last week remains on our minds and weighs heavily on our hearts. It served as a harsh wake-up call for Shuls and religious institutions nationwide to re-evaluate their security arrangements in order to maximize the safety of all those who visit our facilities. Wishing you all a wonderful and safe Shabbos. Eli
