President’s Message:
Dear Shomrei Family, I join you in looking forward to what is sure to be a beautiful and uplifting Yamim Noraim at Shomrei. At this time, it is appropriate to acknowledge and thank several individuals who are committed to Shomrei’s needs all year round, and who go above and beyond in preparation for the Yamim Noraim.
We owe a huge amount of gratitude to our Gabbaim par-excellence, David Bienenstock, Myron Froehlich, Alan Taragin, and Chaim Wealcatch who leave no stone unturned in ensuring that we have a beautiful davening.
Our executive director, Shira Glickman, always work tirelessly running the shul office and building, and during this busy time of year, we appreciate her extra hard work more than ever.
A big Yasher Koach goes to Natan Berry for setting up and running the online auction system.
We sincerely appreciate the many individuals, who wish to remain nameless, who volunteered to paint some of the classrooms, replace the light bulbs in the main shul, and perform other thankless odds and ends to further enhance Shomrei.
We are lucky that Rosemary Warschawski has once again put together a new edition of Kol Hashomrim. Thank you very much to Rosemary for all her efforts in producing this enlightening publication, and to Shimmy Weichbrod for editing it.
Thank you to our new Youth Director, Rosa Wetstein, for arranging the pre-Yom Tov youth painting activity and for working on special programs which will make Yamim Noraim more meaningful for our youth. I am sure that many Yom Tov tables will be graced with beautifully painted ceramic honey dishes! Perhaps one of the most underappreciated roles in Jewish communal life belongs to the people who are responsible for taking very, very specific Yamim Noraim seating requests and putting together a workable seating map. Chaim Steinberg, Alan Taragin, and Avi Zuckerbrod deserve a huge thank you for their impressive work in this area.
A heartfelt thank you goes to our Executive Board and Board of Directors, who take so much time from their busy schedules to volunteer for the shul and perform their Avodas Hakodesh with so much love, patience, and dedication.
Words cannot express my appreciation for the guidance and care Rabbi Marwick gives to our Kehila all year round, and especially during this time of year as we prepare for the auspicious Yemei Hadin. We sincerely thank the Rav for his constant and tireless efforts on behalf of the shul, and look forward to being uplifted by the Rav’s inspirational words throughout the Yamim Noraim and Sukkos season.
May HKB’H grant our Shomrei family a year filled with health and happiness. Rochel and I wish you and your families a Shana Tova Umesuka and a Ksiva Vchasima Tova. Eli
