Meet with an academic advisor if you have concerns about your academic progress. It is also suggested that students meet with an advisor prior to their last semester before graduation. 3. Course Formats: http://www.wilmu.edu/advising/6courseoptions.aspx Course Formats Wilmington University courses are offered in fifteen-week semester, seven- week block, weekend modular and online formats throughout the year. Due to course content, English, math and lab science courses are usually offered in the semester format only. NUR courses and ENG 365 are in the block format only. If you choose, the BSN program can be completed entirely online. NUR courses in the classroom meet from 4:30 pm to 9:30 pm. NUR courses are in the hybrid and online formats only. Please view the first video below to understand how to locate and read your degree audit. If you have received a transfer credit evaluation from us, the second and third videos below explain how to understand your evaluation. Be sure to select the correct video based on which BSN program you are in. (To turn on closed captioning, click in the upper right-hand corner of the video.) 6. Course Sequence & Choosing Electives Included in your email with this Powerpoint presentation is a document that contains a pre-requisite chart and a list of courses and course prefixes from which you can choose your humanities electives and your nursing elective. It is very important that you review this information PRIOR to registering for your first classes. 7. Course Registration: http://www.wilmu.edu/registrar/registration.aspx#courseschedule Walk-In Registration Schedule: http://www.wilmu.edu/advising/appointment.aspx Register for Classes You can register for courses online in WebCampus or by attending a Walk-In Registration Session at the New Castle campus. Click on the Registration link below for detailed instructions about registering for courses. If you received a transfer credit evaluation from us and wish to attend a Walk-In Registration Session, please bring your pre-requisite chart and transfer credit evaluation with you. Completion degree students should take ENG 365 and NUR 303 their first semester. Pathway students should take NUR 303 and a second NUR course. Full degree students should register for any remaining 100 and 200 level courses, making English courses a priority. You are advised to take MAT 308 in the classroom, if possible, unless you are very comfortable learning this subject. 8. Registration Request Tutorial: http://www.wilmu.edu/registrar/registrationrequestvideo.aspx Registering for Classes before the Receipt of all of your Official TranscriptsIf you are registering for classes prior to the completion of your OFFICIAL Transfer Credit Evaluation, please watch the Registration Request Tutorial below; you will need to submit a request to register for courses with pre- requisites that you completed at another school. 9. Log into WebCampus to access Blackboard: https://webcampus.wilmu.edu/ BSN Student Blackboard Site The BSN Student Blackboard Site is located in the My Organizations box in Blackboard. In this location, you will find sample syllabi, clinical documentation paperwork, the BSN Student Handbook, and additional resources and forms required for your program. Your Program Chair also makes announcements to BSN students on this site. You should become familiar with its contents and access it frequently. If you do not see the BSN Student Blackboard Site in your My Organizations box, please email [email protected] du. 10. Practicum Hours NUR 333 and NUR 433 require 16 and 35 practicum hours, respectively. You can see sample syllabi for these courses on the BSN Student Blackboard Site. Your clinical documentation, including a criminal background check and drug screen, MUST be completed prior to starting your first course with practicum hours. You can find the forms and instructions for your clinical documentation requirements on the BSN Student Blackboard Site. NUR 333 16 Hours Shadow nursing leader NUR 433 20 hours Community service F1 Visa students must receive prior authorization from a P/DSO. 11. BSN to MSN Accelerated Option Qualifying BSN students may substitute up to FOUR of the courses in their program with MSN courses. Students that participate in this option and are then accepted into a MSN program at WilmU take fewer courses to receive their MSN. See the BSN/MSN Accelerated Option Intent Form on the BSN Student Blackboard Site for eligibility requirements, application instructions and a conversion chart showing how to substitute your courses. Review this document before you register for your electives and second NUR course if you intend to participate. Requirements for Full and Completion Degree Students NUR 303 MAT 308 All 100/200 level courses 90 credits GPA 3.5 Participation in the Accelerated Option does not guarantee acceptance into the MSN program. Requirements for Pathway Students NUR 303 Previous Bachelors Degree 12. If you have ENG 121 remaining in your program, take the Accuplacer Placement Test right away to determine your first English course: http://www.wilmu.edu/testing/placement_dates.aspx If you believe you may be exempt from placement testing, please review the criteria on our website: http://www.wilmu.edu/testing/placement_exemptions.aspx. BSN students are not required to take the math portion of the Accuplacer. Take your English courses each semester until you have completed them. They are pre-requisites to other courses in your program. You must complete all of your 100 and 200 level courses prior to starting the NUR courses. Full Degree Students Only 13. Nursing Science Challenge Exams are available for A&P and Microbiology. If you need to complete these courses and wish to take the NLN exam to receive college credit, contact Stephanie Paris at (302) 356-6915. Take only one NUR course per block. If you wish to take more, please contact your program chair. Take NUR 423 Global Healthcare and NUR 433 Global Healthcare Practicum during the same semester. NUR 423 is offered in block 1 and NUR 433 is offered in block 2. You should take all other NUR courses before you take NUR 423 and NUR 433. Review the information about the BSN to MSN Accelerated Option (even if you dont think you want to pursue your MSN). If you wish to complete a Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) for a nursing course, print the syllabus from the BSN Student Blackboard Site and follow the instructions given.
