Quality driven organization and staffIdeally, once an insulator is installed, the line operator shouldn’t even need to think about it again for several decades. Sediver contributes to achieving this goal by placing quality at all levels of the organization, ensuring it is at the forefront of the actions undertaken by all personnel, from the design, manufacturing, testing and supply phases, through to after-sales service of all Sediver products for its customers.

Quality of productsThe centralized quality department acts as the clients’ representative for determining and assuring full compliance of the manufactured insulators with their originally stated qualifications. The quality department has absolute authority to ensure that the overall quality policy is enforced and respected at all levels of operations.

Quality of serviceThrough its wide international commercial network, Sediver endeavors to maintain a very close relationship with its customers worldwide. All Sediver personnel are committed to implementing at their own level the necessary steps to ensure that all contracts undertaken by the company are completed successfully.

Quality of technical supportA team of skilled engineers working as Customer Technical Support personnel are dedicated to providing solutions for customers in the field of high-voltage insulation and protection. Their know-how is based on 70 years of experience, testing and research carried out in State-of-the-Art laboratories equipped with the latest equipment and software in the fields of materials science, high voltage testing, mechanical testing and pollution. Their expertise is recognized worldwide and contributes to the technical development of testing procedures and standards within all specialized Committees and WGs (CIGRE, IEEE, CSA, ANSI, IEC, etc.).

For more than 70 years Sediver has been specializing in the research, design, manufacturing, testing & supply of toughened glass insulators, composite insulators and composite surge arresters for high voltage power networks and railway catenary systems.

Proximity of service to customers with Sediver’s worldwide presence: > 4 plants that guarantee uninterrupted supply, on-time delivery and capacity to supply large projects> Regional sales offices in the USA and Canada, including local technical support capabilities> 5 storage facilities to serve our American and Canadian Clients (3 in the USA and 2 in Canada)> One single quality standard across all factories ruled by a centralized QA system

Sediver technical solutionsMore than 70 years of experience with 500 million glass insulators in service

> First installation in 1965 > 6.5 million insulators in service worldwide> Up to 800 kV HVDC

Sediver High Resistivity Toughened Glass insulatorsInsulators used on HVDC lines have to sustain very unique and specific stress conditions associated with the unidirectional e-field and current flow.

To achieve optimum DC performance and to cope with these additional constraints, Sediver developed the High Resistivity Toughened Glass (HRTG) insulator, characterized by a specific type of glass and insulator design.

HVDC applications

Fog type profileThis profile has an extra-long leakage distance that is achieved through its deeper ribs. The profile and wide spacing of the ribs enhance effective self-cleaning and facilitate washing. This wide spacing also prevents arcing between adjacent ribs under severe contamination.

Open type profileThe absence of under-ribs on this shell type greatly reduces dust accumulation on the lower surface. This design is particularly effective in desert areas. It can also solve ice-bridging problems when alternated with other profiles in a string.

> 100 million insulators in operation in more than 130 countries

> Up to 120 klbs (550 kN)

> 20 million insulators in service in 40 countries

> Up to 66 klbs (300 kN)

Medium & heavy pollution

> A reliable solution proven by nearly 20 years of satisfactory performance

> More than 1.5 million insulators in service > Operating on transmission lines up to 500 kV

Sedicoat® - RTV coated glass insulatorsSilicone coated glass insulators combine excellent pollution performance and the technical merits (i.e. ease of inspection) and reliability of toughened glass insulators.

The hydrophobic behavior of the coated surface helps to mitigate extreme pollution problems by reducing wetting, dry band activity and leakage currents.

This eliminates the risk of pollution related flashovers and the need for periodic washing.

Extreme pollution, when regular washing is needed

Standard profile This design performs well in areas of mild contamination thanks to its shallow, well-spaced under-ribs and a leakage distance that exceeds standard duty requirements.

> 300 million insulators in service around the world> From 15 klbs to 170 klbs (70 kN to 760 kN)> Operating on transmission lines up to 1,000 kV

Clean area / light pollution
