Our philosophyA happy, high quality learning communityis what we strive to achieve at SeafordHead. There is a strong ethos which valueslearning and this vision is supported andshared by our governors and partnerswithin the Seaford Head Academy Trust.

A climate of innovation and independenceis encouraged. This is possible because ofthe positive relationships which arefostered between students, parents, staffand the wider community.

We have very high expectations withregard to uniform, attendance andbehaviour.

A great emphasis is placed on transitionfrom primary school to Seaford Head aswell as when students move from theSteyne site to the Arundel site. Thisguarantees all students understand whatto expect and who to turn to for support.Transition at Seaford Head is recognisednationally as exemplary.

Beyond the formal classroom

The Student Leadership Teams at SeafordHead are very strong and provide ourstudents with a voice which is taken seriouslyby the senior staff. Seaford Head supports awide range of charities and organises fundraising events throughout the year. TheStudent Leadership Teams led by the HeadBoy and Head Girl, contribute to the strongethos and positive culture which existsthroughout the school.

Participation in such activities serves towiden our students’experiences and theirunderstanding of the world in which they live.

At Seaford Head all students areencouraged to participate in educationalopportunities that occur beyond theformal curriculum.

Seaford Head is proud of its extensiverange of extra curricular activities andphysical education is seen as a vital part ofthe healthy development of each student.There are many successful sports teamsand individual students regularly representthe school at county, regional and nationallevels. There are many opportunities forstudents who wish to travel abroad andmany departments organise trips whichsupport and extend the learning that takesplace in the classroom.

Students at Seaford Head are encouragedto have a strong sense of identity. Werecognise that the students' emotionalhealth and well-being are fundamental totheir academic success.

We want Seaford Head students to valuethemselves but also care for others aroundthem and to feel part of the widercommunity. Citizenship and Ethics are justtwo areas which develop our students'understanding of their place in the world.

Seaford Head has a strong pastoral systemthat provides a supportive framework forlearning in which students can both thriveand mature. All students have a Director ofLearning who is responsible for trackingtheir academic progress.

Parents are encouraged to actively engagewith the staff at Seaford Head as we knowthat a strong, positive relationship betweenhome and school is in the students’bestinterests and guarantees success.

The school is fortunate to have a verycommitted PTA which promotes ‘parentvoice’ as well as organising fund raisingactivities.

Moving forwardMoving forwardFrom the HeadteacherWewant our students to aim high, to have ambition and to realise their dreams.Regular assessment and feedback provide students with clear targets. Allstudents are encouraged to be responsible for evaluating their achievements,celebrating their successes and addressing their weaknesses. They areencouraged to set their own challenging goals guided by their teachers.
