New Things And he that sat upon the throne
said, Behold, I make all things
new. And he said unto me Write:
for these words are true and faith-
ful.
Revelations 21:5
This text is from the Great
Book of Revelations, where God
declares that all tears will be
wiped away. No more sorrow, no
more pain, no more crying and no
more death. What a great promise
and what a wonderful time that
will be for the believers. He also
said he would make all things
new.
At Southside Baptist
Church, we are experiencing lots
of new things. We have a new
Youth and Children’s Minister, Ty-
ler Murphy and his wife Laura
from the Warrensburg area.Tyler
hit the ground running, making
preparations for the Backyard Bi-
ble School at the Harris Center
June 6-9. We also have a new
ministry in our church for those
recovering from addictions and co-
dependency. The ministry is called
Together for Good Recovery Pro-
gram. This Gospel centered
recovery program is lead by Don
Carter, MSW, LCSW, Psychothera-
pist. Don is a member at
Southside and his group is meet-
ing every week through their recov-
ery program.
To find out more about the group
call Don at 573-634-2254 or e-
mail at [email protected].
Although Southside has
had a Bus Ministry for a few years,
a new phase of bus activity has
been started. Patrick & Jamie
Metcalf have been visiting and de-
veloping weekly routes that are
bringing new children to Southside.
Twenty four new children have
been enrolled in Sunday School
and some are attending RA’s and
GA’s. Richland Baptist had a bus
that they no longer needed and we
were able to purchase this 20 pas-
senger van for a reasonable price.
After we voted to purchase this van
at the Business Meeting, someone
came forward and donated the
money for the bus. Praise the Lord.
God continues to bless our
church during the new construction
phase. June 6 will begin a 10
week stretch of ten mission teams
from Missouri, Texas, Alabama,
Georgia and Tennessee. Please
pray for safety as they travel and
work with us. Come by the work
site and get acquainted with these
servants of the Lord

NEWS FROM TYLER
Hello Southside Baptist Church, I want to start off by thanking each of you for the opportunity that you have given me and my wife,
Laura, to come and serve this church and this community! What God has done for us over the last few weeks in leading us here to Fulton has been truly amazing. I wanted to take a bit to share that with the church! Before coming here, I was working for a small construction business in Stover, MO. On March 21st my boss told me that he had accepted a new job, which basically meant it was really time for me to find another job! This was pretty stressful news considering I had already been looking for quite a while. The very next day on March 22nd I received word from another church I had interviewed with and they informed me that they were going to go with a different candidate. We moped around a little that evening wondering what God could possibly be doing with our lives after this disappointing news. We decided to go out to dinner and just get our minds off of the situation. Before we even made it home from dinner I had a phone call. That phone was call was from Pastor Guy asking if I would like to come on over to Fulton and have an interview! Of course I accepted, and as you already know, the rest is history! There are so many details that fell together so perfectly, if I wrote them all down you might have a book to read by the end of it, but one thing was clear from day one, God was definitely sending us here to Southside Baptist Church!
We are excited to be here and we are excited to get to work! We believe it is our responsibility to raise up students who will go out and make disciples. We are here as a resource to the church. The local church has always been an important part of my life and I am so thankful God has called me to serve full-time. My wife, Laura, is currently finishing up her job at University of Central Missouri as an Event Coordinator. With her gifts in organization and events, and mine in teaching and counseling, we believe that we are a good team to take on the challenge of Student Ministry! We ask for prayers as we transition, as we will be praying for you as well! Everyone has already been so welcoming and it has really made for an easy transition. We are so grateful and so blessed! We also ask for prayers for the youth group as we prepare to go to North Dakota on the mission trip! Again, I just want to thank you all for this opportunity, and we look forward to working with all of you as we minister to the students and make Fulton our home!
God Bless,

Ministry Opportunities
It’s that time of year again!! Mission Teams are Coming!!! The 1st team is Mt. Pisgah, June 4th – June 10th and they are staying in the building that week. Sunday School teachers, please pick up and move things out of the way for them to put out cots and personal belongings. They are doing ALL their own meals.
The 2nd Team is Parkview Baptist, from Lake City, Florida. They will come in Saturday, June 11th and on Sunday the 12th we will do a Carry-In Lunch for them. Their Pastor will also be sharing on Sunday morning. They are providing all their own meals.
The 3rd team we need to provide housing for is a return team from Georgia, “West Metro Group.” Many of the team members have asked to return to their former hosts and most of you have graciously accepted them. This team comes in the Saturday of Father’s Day week, June 18th. We will have an ice cream social for the team that night (5:30pm) to meet host families and be taken home. Since Sunday the 19th is Father’s Day, we will NOT have a Carry-In Lunch. Several of the host families will provide a spaghetti lunch for the team members only. But we will need to pro-vide desserts for their lunch and evening meal. The Welcome Center will have a sign-up sheet for desserts. I’m guessing 2 large desserts per meal. There will be 40 on the team.
The 4th Team is Missourians on Mission, another return team. They will come in on Sunday the 26th. We will need to host a Sunday evening meal for them at 5 pm. I need volunteers to help me with this meal. Please contact me personally.
That covers the month of June. I so appreciate all of you who have volunteered to house and those
of you who have helped me cook! I can’t thank you enough, and I believe you’ve earned an extra
star in your Heavenly crown!! Please contact me with any questions. I can be reached by email:
[email protected], by text message 573-680-5012 or on the church’s Face Book page! Bless-
ings, Kathy Thomas
