Dear Parents and Carers
STRONG MINDS
Last night 80 parents attended a very informative and useful presentation by psychologist, Nicole Nossiter, who developed the Strong Minds program.
Some of Nicole’s key messages included:
By focussing on our key strengths we can •Develop better relationships •Have higher job satisfaction •Experience greater cohesion between people
We know that when students utilise their strengths they:
•Increase their motivation, engagement and learning outcomes •Gain in confidence and build resilience •Appreciate diversity •Have fewer behavioural issues, resulting in calmer classrooms.
I will include information in future newsletters about each of the 24 character strengths we all possess, with some information on how we can develop and use these strengths.
Nicole has provided the following two video clips which were shown at last night’s presentation should parents be interested in learning more about the Strong Minds program.
1. TheScience of Character: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3nT2KDAGOc
2. Helping Your Child be Their Best: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42KfMq8TgPM&t=1s
WHOOPING COUGH and CHICKEN POX
As per yesterday’s notification, the school has received advice that two students have been diagnosed with whooping cough and one student has been diagnosed with chicken pox (in spite of being vaccinated). Parents are asked to seek medical advice should they have an y concerns regarding their child’s health.

The final Kindergarten Connections session will be held this Friday at 9.15am-10.00am. Parents of Kindergarten students are welcome to attend.
ELECTION DAY SAUSAGE SIZZLE and CAKE STALL
Thank you to everyone who supported the P&C’s democracy sausage sizzle and cake stall on Saturday, and to Eva and Kris for their organization of this event.
The donation of cakes and treats was wonderful, and ‘sausage boy’ (You need to google him for more information!) declared the Kent Road sausage sizzle the best of all eleven sausages he sampled on Saturday! What a glowing endorsement – not only was the sausage sandwich delicious but the enthusiasm of the many parents who volunteered was wonderful. Thank you again everyone for your time and support.

We are excited to be taking part in the 2019 Woolworths Earn & Learn
program. During the previous campaign, we were able to purchase
some great resources with the points we earned, thanks to you.
From now until June 25th 2019, you can collect stickers at Woolworths
that go towards Earn & Learn points. These stickers can then be given to
your children to collect on a special sticker sheet. Once it is completed,
they can simply bring it back here to school or you can drop them into
your local Woolworths collection box.
We are grateful for your support and look forward to a successful
program. If you have any questions, please ask at the School Office.

A successful and fun day for all. It could not have happened without you the parents & carers of our school community. From Kris Arnold, (general organiser; supplies; set up & pack up); Fiona Hamilton (stall location & set up); Kate Mason (sausage supplier and chief BBQer); Isabella Tan (Class Parent Coordinator); our teams of parents who worked the BBQ & cake stalls; parents who donated gorgeous cakes and other yummy treats and Bec & Liz from OOSH for bags of ANZAC cookies and handmade signs.
We made approx $1,600 from the day, a magnificent effort!
The highlight of course was the announcement that KRPS won the best democracy sausage in Bennelong!
Congratulations KRPS team!
