Thank You!! Thank You!!

Our Parish Organizations have been working hard to bring a new life and vitality to our parish. In particular we wish to thank:

The Women’s Association – for providing hospitality for our Penance Service and preparing our Seder Supper with Roger’s help. To Jackie, Annette and Jorge for their help in making the evening run smoothly.

Our Knights of Columbus – for hosting our Friday Fish Dinners. Under the direction of chief chef Roger Maldonado, the food was great! A special thanks also to Roger for preparing the lamb for the Seder Sup-per.

Our 8th grade class – for hosting our final Passion Play and all the students that helped during the sea-son.

To Jackie and Annette - for coordinating our Friday night Stations of the Cross and our first Ladies Lenten Luncheon, hopefully this is the first of many.

Our Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers, Ushers, Music Ministers (Michael, Cedric, Sabrina and our Parish and Children’s Choir), and our Altar Care People (including Jackie, Annette, Marco, Jorge, Alberto and the volunteers). Their generosity of spirit and enthusiasm made such a difference to our Worship! We thank Monica for scheduling our ministers and making all the necessary Worship Aids.

As your Pastor, I want to thank the Legionaries of Christ and Fr. Mike for their generous and loving hearts. They are a great blessing to our community and to me. Thank you!

Fr. Paul

DID YOU KNOW? Urge kids not to keep secrets from trusted adults Abusers often encourage their victims to keep secrets from their parents or other trusted adults, and reinforce secrecy through bribes, threats or by making it seem fun and exciting to keep a secret. Parents should talk to their kids about secrets, and teach them the difference between fun secrets like a birth-day surprise and bad secrets like unsafe touches. Kids should know that adults should never ask them to keep secrets from their parents, and if an adult does ask them to keep secrets, to talk to their parents immediately.

PROCLAIM THE RISEN CHRIST On Easter morning everything—the spring weather, the flowers, birds and butterflies, the people around us in their finery, the beautiful liturgy and music—everything seems to bear witness that Jesus Christ is risen today! Like the eyewitness accounts in today’s scriptures, the glorious and joyful life all around us helps us to believe the good news of the Resurrection and sing “Alleluia!” In the scriptures today we hear from Peter and Paul and John. All three speak with conviction about witnessing the resurrected Christ. John’s Gospel account includes Mary of Magdala, who also was privileged to witness the Resurrection and tell others the good news. On this glori-ous Easter Sunday can we ourselves give eyewitness ac-counts that Jesus Christ is risen today, alive and active in our lives?

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION The Paschal Mystery is the key to our Christian faith: the dying and rising of Jesus that is the pattern of our life. In their first steps on the road of faith, the catechumens feel the cross of glory traced over their eyes, on their lips, across their shoulders, on their ears, over their heart, and on their feet. The mystery is that even death gives way to life for those who are held in the embrace of Jesus. To-day, many new Christians arise from the waters of the font. Yet the font is not the destination of their journey. The goal is Pentecost, fifty days from now, and a lifetime of praise to the Father, in Christ, in the embrace of the Holy Spirit, for the sake of the world. “Neophyte,” our ancient word for newly-baptized people, means “newly-planted” in Greek. If someone in your parish has just been baptized, welcome them today. The smiles on their faces and the light in the eyes is a foretaste of heaven.

Marriage Preparation: We invite you to obtain a Blue Flyer in the vestibule of the church which outlines our process of preparation.

Adult Faith Formation and Bible Study: our Tuesday Night Adult Faith Formation Se-ries meets throughout the year to present topics of interest to adults; and our Tuesday Morning Bible Study help open the scriptures, and from time to time focus on current church issues related to the text being discussed.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word: during the 9:30 am Sunday Mass, children in grades 1 through 5 are dismissed after the opening prayer to hear the readings and a simple homily. They return during the preparation of the gifts.
