Mission Co-op Propagaon of Faith

Speaker Next Weekend August 4-5, 2018

Next weekend Fr. Dawit Tarfa Moroda (Fr. Dawit) will be speaking at all of the Masses for the Apostolic Vicariate of Nekemete in Ethiopia. The infrastructure in Ethiopia is very poor and access to many villages is difficult. People are mainly small scale farmers and pastors whose livelihood totally depends on the rain-fed agriculture and animal products. As a consequence, frequent drought, famine and poverty is widespread. The main Pastoral Acvies of the Vicariate are evangelizaon, administraon of Sacraments, spiritual assistance, catechecal instrucons, faith formaon, deepening of faith, parish renewal and family counselling. The Health Services they provide are given through one health center, 6 clinics, 4 health posts and through hygiene educaon programs, prevenve medicine, mother and child care, eye camps, podoconiosis treatment, goiter prevenon, leprosy and TB treatment and eradicaons program and support program for differently disabled people. They also provide Educaonal Service with 11 schools, 18 kindergartens, scholarship programs for poor children, and literacy programs for adults.

Join the Monday Evening Bible Study on the Epistle of St. James beginning September 10th (through mid November) at 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Kolbe room. The Epistle of St. James is a wonderful guide to living the life of Christ in a secular culture. Although polical condions and culture were different in his me, his advice is meless to the human condion. St. James’ Epistle is indeed "Pearls for Wise Living" and brought to us in a ten-week course by Jeff Cavins, Sarah Christmyer and Ascension Press. Register in the Rectory Office. Program cost is $25. Deadline for registraon is August 24th. For more informaon, contact the rectory or call Joe Pizzino at: 484-883-8985.

Registration

St. Max School is a Spirited Community of Achievement. We are currently accepting registration for a few remaining spots. If your 3 year old was recently potty trained and you are looking for a preschool, you will want to see our early childhood center.

We also have a generous tuition grant program for any current public school student wishing to transfer into our school. If you are new to our area or have not yet visited St. Max School, we invite you to arrange for a tour.

St. Max is a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Our school is situated on a beautiful, safe campus with multiple play areas. We promote STEAM lessons that engage our students with the latest technology. Our primary grade students are learning to write computer code. Problem solving, creativity and hands on projects equip our students with the skills needed as they move on to the high school of their choice. Our graduating class was awarded over $190,000 in high school scholarships.

For more information and a tour, call 610-399-8400. Our office is currently on summer hours, so if you leave a message, we will be happy to get back to you.

Back to School Supplies

St. Agnes Outreach Services is looking ahead to our annual Back to School Program to assist needy students in our area. Last year, with the kindness of parishioners from the surrounding parishes, we assisted over 300 young students to be prepared for a good start to the academic year. It is a wonderful gift to help a child be ready to learn. You can help by donating sturdy small or large backpacks or school supplies such as pens, pencils, marble composition books, binders and filler paper and dividers, pocket folders, glue sticks, scissors, highlighters, markers, colored pencils, and pencil cases and rulers, pencil sharpeners, dry erase markers and index cards. Any and all of the above items are a blessing and will be appreciated by a student in need. Purchased items can be placed in the box marked "St. Agnes". Please contact Marie Holland at [email protected] with questions.

Change for Life Program

The Knights of Columbus would like to thank all who participated in its CFL Program, assisting women in crisis. Through your kindness, we were able to donate almost $350 to each of these local pro-life ministries: CCWS Medical, Birthright of West Chester, Chester County Pro-Life Coalition, Generation Life, Mom's Home of Greater Philadelphia, Mother's Home and Rachel's Vineyard Ministries. Again, thanks to all who participated.
