A Message From Your PastorA Message From Your Pastor
Scripture Readings Sixth Sunday of Easter May 10, 2015 Acts 10: 25-26, 34-35, 44-48 Psalm 98 1 John 4: 7-10 John 15: 9-17 As we move toward Pentecost, we will be hearing more about the Holy Spirit. The first reading speaks of the Holy Spirit falling upon those listening to Peter. As we listen to this reading, it might be good to ponder what that means, and how the Holy Spirit was manifested in them. Perhaps the message about love in the second reading and Gospel holds the answer. How is the Holy Spirit manifested in us?

It is our hope that the chapel may be a source of God’s peace for you and that you tell your family and friends about it. In order to have a constant vigil of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, we must make sure someone is in the chapel for all 168 hours of every week. The only way we can do this is with committed adorers. A committed adorer (member) is someone who promises to make a weekly visit to the chapel for at least one hour on the same day at the same time each week. An ex-ample is coming in every Friday from 7AM to 8AM. It is only through the generosity and sacrifice of the members of the Ado-ration Society, that we are able to have perpetual Eucharistic Adoration at St. Bede. We ask that you prayerfully consider joining the Adoration Society by becoming a committed adorer. It’s a simple matter of putting God first in your life. “In everything you do, put God first and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success.” (Prov3, 6-10) We welcome members of our neighboring parishes and invite you to share in the blessings of perpetual adoration. Our current open hours are: Sunday 11AM & 1PM, Tues-day 2AM, Friday 11AM, Saturday 2AM, 5AM & 6PM. Our ultimate goal is to have two adorers for every hour so if these hours are impossible for you due to your schedule, please con-tact us to arrange a more convenient time. We can accommo-date every schedule. Also, prayer partners are requested for the following hours (commitment of 2X per month): Monday 4AM & 4PM, Wednesday 3AM, and Friday 5AM. For more information please contact Debbie & Sean McDer-mott (215) 504-9897 or [email protected].

Thousands attend March for Marriage in Washington
(Catholic World News) During an April 25 march in Wash-ington, thousands of people witnessed to marriage as the union of a man and a woman. “My dear friends, marriage is and can only be the union of one man and one woman,” said Archbishop Joseph Kurtz, the president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and one of the speakers at the march. “Children don’t need ex-periments; they need the love of their mother and father, wher-ever possible.” “In a few days, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the rights of states to protect marriage’s unique meaning,” he added. “Missing from much of the public conversation has been an honest look at the question of what marriage is. Ad-vancing civil discourse depends not upon false caricatures or tactics of intimidation … There must be room in the public square for the witness of lives inspired by the sacrificial love a husband and wife share for their children.” “President Obama likes to say that no one should lose their job because of who they love,” added Rev. Bill Owens, founder and president of the Coalition of African American Pastors. “What if who they love is Jesus Christ?”
Greeting Alumni of the Future!
It’s never too early to start thinking about attend-ing Saint Katharine Drexel School! At last week’s Alumni Day celebration, Monsignor greeted many parish families who now have the option of enroll-ing their youngsters in the new preschool program, which begins in Septem-ber.
Welcome Our New Parishioners

Colleen Flack Parish registration can take place immediately after Mass
by seeing one of the priests, or ask an usher or greeter for further details.
Today’s Gospel reminds us that unless we “remain in” Christ, we cannot “bear fruit.” During this Easter Season, let us reflect on how we can more deeply “remain” in Christ. An easy and effective help is listening to an engaging and inspirational Catholic talk on CD. Choose one just right for you in our Resource display. Even the busiest person can manage to listen to a CD while driving, doing chores or exercising. Pick up one every Sunday to nourish you throughout the week. Thank you for your gener-ous donations that help to support the mission of Stewardship: A Mission of Faith and Lighthouse Catholic Media to “feed hungry hearts.” CD Highlight: “Faith at Work” Book/Booklet: “Our Lady Un-tier of Knots”

We will meet in the cafeteria in order to proceed to the church while singing Marian hymns and carrying flowers for presentation & the Crowning of the Blessed Mother.
