AT THE END
In the coming weeks, as we draw nearer to the end of the liturgical year, we will often hear references to the end of our lives and the end of time. This week’s scriptures are no exception. The reading from Timothy warns us to live “without stain or reproach until the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Timothy 6:14), and the psalm says that God “secures justice for the oppressed . . . but the way of the wicked he thwarts” (Psalm 146:7, 9). In the reading from Amos we hear about the “woe” that is in store for the complacent rich, who think nothing of how their self-indulgence oppresses the poor. The Gospel parable about Lazarus and the nameless rich man exemplifies such complacency, as well as the justice that both the wicked and the oppressed will experience beyond the grave. © Copyright, J. St. Benedict School News…
Student Government, Peer Helpers, Band, Strings, Performance Choir, Mass Choir, Dance, Drama, Sports Teams, Boys Scouts, Girl Scouts and more are all part of the Saint Benedict Catholic School possibility of experiences. Although we are a small school that emphasizes academic and faith development, we have a great number of opportunities to grow skills in the arts, sports, and leadership. Most activities are free to attending students. A few are for a fee, but are provided on campus during and after school. What better way to grow future members of society than through their augmentation of Mind, Body AND Spirit?
CCD is meeting at the school and in the classrooms of the
parish hall. Refreshments are provided for the children and
the parishioners. Come to the parish hall after the 8:00 AM
Mass and enjoy the fellowship. If you would like to provide
refreshments one Sunday, contact Alma Doege at
986-5201. Many hands make light work.
