Welcome to Saint Joseph Parish! May 24, 2020 www.stjosephmech.org Seventh Sunday of Easter
SAINT JOSEPH PARISH PLANS FOR THE YELLOW PHASE REOPENING OF OUR CHURCH We are so excited to say, “Welcome Back!” We have been busy planning for your return to celebrate the Sacred Mass together with you in person! We have new social distancing and health safety measures in place in our church. We understand that not all our parishioners will be able to rejoin us in person and we will continue to offer our live-streaming Masses. Bishop Gainer’s dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is still in force. THE SAFETY OF ALL IS THE HIGHEST PRIORITY. If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, are ill in any way, have a fever or are one of the most vulnerable groups, etc., please stay home. We have one more weekend until we are able to make our Church available for public Mass. This will occur on May 30/31, the Feast of Pentecost! Until then, the Church will remain closed. Here is the schedule as we make this transition: CONFESSIONS Drive Thru Confessions resume Saturday, May 23 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Our Knights of Columbus, in yellow safety vests, will be guiding you in and out of the campus parking lot. Confessions following this procedure will be offered every Saturday at this time for the foreseeable future. SUNDAY MASSES Because of the need to sanitize the Church after each Mass, and the directive that we can have no more than 1/3 capacity in the Church, our Yellow Phase Public Mass Schedule will be as follows:
SATURDAY VIGIL - 4:00 PM SUNDAY - 7:30 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:30 PM
Additional precautions for this phase: while on campus, you must wear a mask and keep it on at all times, with the exception of while receiving Holy Communion. Only the front center doors to the Church will be available for entrance. Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance. An usher will show you where to sit once you arrive for Mass. This is to ensure social distancing is maintained and to seat as many people as possible. Seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. We will livestream each Mass from the choir loft. The audio portion is reported to be good, even though the picture is from a distance, at least temporarily (more on that below). If you arrive for Mass and there is no seating available and you have the capability, please view the Mass on Facebook from your car or outside the Church, keeping social distancing in mind. You will be afforded to opportunity to receive the Eucharist after Mass is completed. DISTRIBUTION OF HOLY COMMUNION A major change in the ritual, per diocesan policy during a pandemic, is that Holy Communion will be distributed once Mass has ended. Social distancing is of utmost importance at all times, but particularly when proceeding to receive Holy Communion. The ushers and floor markings will assist with this process. Once you receive Holy Communion you will exit the Church immediately. You are urged to make your thanksgiving on the way to, and inside, your car. The reason for this is to give our sanitization crew sufficient time to prepare the Church for the next Mass. If anyone is attending Mass outside the Church (i.e. via Facebook), the priests will distribute Holy Communion at a location outside the Church as soon as distribution is concluded within the building. More information on this will be available soon. SUNDAY LIVE STREAM MASS will be Saturday evening at 6:00 PM from Brindle Hall with ASL interpretation. DAILY MASS WILL CONTINUE TO BE LIVESTREAM ONLY As we move further into the summer, this is subject to change once our sanitization efforts are able to cover weekday Masses. NEW CAMERA EQUIPMENT FOR LIVESTREAM Thanks to a number of very generous donors, we have purchased equipment to upgrade our ability to livestream a better quality picture from the Church. The equipment is on order and will be installed and ready for use as soon as possible. Until then, we will continue to use the means that we have as described above.
PARISH CAMPUS REMAINS CLOSED TO ANY PUBLIC MEETINGS OR GATHERINGS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. PLEASE CONTINUE TO KEEP THE CLERGY AND STAFF IN YOUR PRAYERS AS WE WORK TO ENACT ALL NECESSARY SAFETY ASPECTS IN ORDER TO RESUME PUBLIC MASSES. Keep an eye out on our website and social media for additional information!

The Month of May is Devoted to Our Blessed Mother, Mary
Join us for our live-streamed Mass daily at 8:00 AM. After each daily Mass and our 9:45 AM Sunday live-streamed Mass, we will pray the Rosary together. We have resumed our Friday Eucharistic devotions with a live stream, interactive Eucharistic Holy Hour. Join us virtually
in front of the Blessed Sacrament. The hour will include the Rosary (as we begin the month dedicated to our Blessed Mother) and will give attendees the opportunity to send their prayer intentions live via a Facebook posting. The hour will end with Night Prayer and Benediction, followed by our candlelight honoring of the Blessed Mother. On Sunday, May 24 at 1:00 PM join us in prayer and music for a Holy Hour in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary! Live streamed on our Facebook page. The link is on our website.
All are welcome to join Father Rozman on a pilgrimage with
our Blessed Mother throughout the month of May to visit all of
the beautiful depictions of Mary we have here at Saint Joseph
Parish. There will be a different video and prayer with reflection
each day! Please visit our Parish Facebook page, Instagram or
access the videos through our website www.stjosephmech.org.
Mary, Mother of God, Pray for Us!
Banns of Marriage are announced for Matthew Robert Connolly and Margaret Mary Burton,
who intend to marry on June 14, 2020.
JOIN US FOR A HYMN SING!
Each Wednesday night at 7:00 PM, we will livestream a hymn-sing from the choir loft of our church. Every week will feature one of our parish cantors singing 10 hymns from our hymnal, with room for a few requests from the comments section at the end! A song-sheet is provided on our website for you to sing along with us! We hope you’ll join us as we lift our voices in Praise to God!
Congratulations to all our Graduates, grade school, high
school and college!!! Our prayers are with you, as you enter this new chapter on
your journey!
New Communication Method from Father Rozman
On April 3, 2020, Father Rozman started an email newsletter for our parish family! In a way to stay connected during our stay at home quarantine, Father will be sending timely updates about our parish. These emails are currently going to our parishioners whose email address we have. If you did not receive these emails and would like to be included in our distribution list, please contact the parish office, either by phone at 717-766-9433 or email at [email protected] with your current email address and we will add your information to our database. Be sure to check your inbox Friday afternoons!
Our Parish YouTube Channel
Please subscribe to our Parish YouTube channel! To locate our channel, search for “stjosephmech” on the YouTube website and subscribe. You may also connect through our website www.stjosephmech.org and click on the YouTube icon in the top right corner. We will be posting ALL Masses (both recorded and live-streamed) to this channel, as well as other devotions and spiritual offerings. This is a great way to help keep us connected to all the wonderful things happening in our Parish!

Welcome to Saint Joseph Parish! May 24, 2020 www.stjosephmech.org Seventh Sunday of Easter
The Saint Joseph School Class of 2020 recently partnered with Little Mario's Pizza and SweeTreats Bakery to provide a meal to the staff at the Country Meadows-Senior Care facility in Mechanicsburg. In all, 140 subs, chips, beverages and whoopie pies were delivered over the course of the workday as a thank you from the 8th grade students and their families to the staff for all that they do in caring for their residents. The 8th graders also handmade 230 thank you notes for the staff to take
along with them as a reminder of the respect and appreciation that the students have for the work that they do.
The last day of school was Wednesday, May 20, 2020. We hope that all of our students have a fun and safe summer! We congratulate our 8th graders and wish them the best of luck always. They were a wonderful class and will be missed greatly.
Congratulations 8th Grade!
Bishop Ronald Gainer will hold a combined Baccalaureate Mass for all the Diocesan high schools to be live-streamed on the Diocesan YouTube channel on May 27 at 7:00 PM. We encourage all students and their families to join Bishop Gainer for the
