My Dear Parish Family,
We now come to the conclusion of our Christmas season. It is wonderful that as this joyful time
comes to a close, we are still enthusiastic
for the season ahead! Saint John the Baptist greets us now as he baptizes our Lord Jesus Christ in the Jordan.
Clearly our Lord Jesus Christ did not need to be baptized, but He is a leader, and He wants us to follow His example. Our Lord always leads by example. When we find times to be
challenging, when we find times to be
tough, we know that He has walked the path before us, ensuring that we too can one day persevere and join in the glory of His Resurrection. Let us now prepare to enter into the
days ahead with great confidence and optimism. The new year has begun - let us run out to meet it with Christian enthusiasm! Please continue to pray for me as I will pray
for you. Please continue to pray for me as I will pray for you.
Rev. Brian Patrick Woodrow
Him!
Let us embrace the example that our
Mother the Church has given us throughout
the centuries as we together turn to the East,
ad orientem, to joyfully await the coming of

New Year’s Luncheon Celebration, with over 50 members attending, was a great success! There was good food, and plenty of it… I believe that we all skipped dinner that night! Please remember: With the third Monday in January being
Martin Luther King Day, our next regularly scheduled meeting will be on February 3, 2020. That’s where you’ll get to enjoy our own
in-house version of “Family Feud”! Then on February 17th, we’ll be romancing good food at the

Party, with a “sure to enjoy” Corned Beef Sandwich Lunch combined with a magically festive meeting experience, in the Community Room… and finally, with the fog from the food coma lifting, we can look ahead to the upcoming, sure to be funny, Algonquin Theater Event. Checks are preferred for most activities… please bring your checkbook to our meetings. New members always welcome If you have a question, or suggestion, please call me. Please join us on Thursday, January 23rd at 1:00 PM in the Community Room for a special session of our monthly Caregiver Support Group focusing on Alzheimer’s Disease. Our Guest speaker is Toni Ann Widmaier, from Alzheimer’s, New Jersey. This program is designed to provide caregivers and family members, with a comprehensive overview of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Caregivers of individuals with dementia will learn about the various stages of Alzheimer’s the process of getting a diagnosis, strategies for caring for someone with dementia, and much more. To date, there is no cure and no effective treatment for this cruel, fatal disease that robs victims of their lives, and families of their loved ones. In New Jersey alone, there are an estimated 180,000 coping with Alzheimer’s disease. People with dementia are often isolated, or hidden, because of the stigma or the possibility of negative reactions from neighbors and relatives to behavioral and psychological symptoms. Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s can be extremely demanding and often overwhelming. The most important thing is to learn all about the disease process, identify the available resources, coping strategies, and the value of joining a support group.
Please join us for this very important presentation and invite anyone you know that is caring for a loved one who is suffering from this disease. Pre-registration is required by calling 888-280-6055 or at www.alznj.org.
Maureen Arce, Pastoral Care, Director of Caregiver Support Ministry
Aine Lynch, R.N.MSN., Director, Parish Nurse Ministry
Sponsored by the Caregivers Support Ministry in conjunction with the Parish Nurse and Health & Wellness Ministries.
There is no fee for attending this program, however, PRE-REGISTRATION is required
either with Alzheimer’s New Jersey at www.alznj.org, or by calling 888-280-6055.
