This Week’s Mass Intentions
Parish Mission Statement We, the Parish Family of St. Mark’s in our quest to follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ, are building a faith-based community that
assists all people in life’s journey to be open to God’s love and to share His joy. We are further committed to address the spiritual, physical, emotional and social needs of all people through service to individuals, families, parish and the greater community. As responsible stewards using our individual gifts, we promise to celebrate, renew and strengthen our faith, and to live our lives as a reflection of Christ's love for others.
St. Mark’s is designated as a Center for Hispanic Ministry in the Diocese of Trenton.

7th Sunday in Ordinary Time LEVITICUS 19:1-2, 17-18 You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason with your neighbor, lest you bear sin because of him. PSALMS 103:1-4, 8, 10, 12-13 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. 1 CORINTHIANS 3:16-23 Let no one deceive himself. If any one among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. MATTHEW 5:38-48 But I say to you, Do not resist one who is evil. But if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Ash Wednesday is February 26th Please join us and be a part of the Way of the Cross reenacted by our CCD children and the Music Ministry. Let’s take a walking journey back to the time of Christ. Let’s listen to Bible witnesses and learn about Christ’s Passion. Masses with distribution of ashes are at 7:30 AM, 11 AM, 6 PM (in Spanish) and 7:30 PM.
Please join our parish family on Ash Wednesday, February 26th, at 4 PM, with The Way of the Cross, followed by the distribution of ashes. Afterwards, come downstairs and enjoy a meatless soup and bread dinner. Macaroni and cheese will be served to the children. As in the past, we are asking for volunteers to make one of the soups listed or your favorite one. Please call or email the rectory and let us know what kind of soup you would like to bring.
Anyone dropping off soup is asked to please bring the soup in a crock-pot (preferably warm), and drop it off in the basement by 3:30 PM. Please identify your pots for easy return. We also would ask for a few volunteers to ladle out the soup and to help with clean up. Contact Donna O’Meara at 732-449-6364 ext. 100 or email [email protected]. Suggested Soups: Minestrone,
Tomato Basil, Clam Chowder, Mushroom Barley, Acorn Squash, Pasta Fagioli, Potato Leek & Lentil.
Fasting on Ash Wednesday Ash Wednesday marks the first day of the 40 days of Lent, dedicated
to reflection, prayer, abstinence, and fasting in preparation for Easter. Lent ends on Holy Thursday, The Supper of the Lord, which is the fifth day of Holy Week.
On Ash Wednesday, if you are 18 to 59 years of age, you are obliged to fast by eating one full meal or two smaller meals. If you are 14 years of age or older, you are obliged to abstain from eating meat (except for health reasons).
Can You Give Our Neighbor a Helping Hand? Our neighbor, Fr. Russell Griffin of St. Uriel The Archangel Church, needs 12 volunteers to make and serve soup for his presentation this Wednesday, March 4th, for the annual Soup and Scripture at the First Presbyterian Church in Manasquan. If you can help, please call our Rectory at 732-449-6364 ext. 100.
