Cell Broadcast Centre (CBC) and Operator/HSS based Subscriber Tracing (TSR) in MME
Description Cell Broadcast Centre (CBC) was a solution for the special requirement of an Earthquake and Tsunami warning system (ETWS). It utilizes the existing interfaces between UE and MME in control plane. Additionally the MME is connected to the CBC via the SBc interface.
Subscriber tracing provides detailed information at the call level for the UE (user). This is done to measure the performance of network elements as well as the quality of services given to the user while using LTE network. Subscriber is also traced on demand of the user itself if it is not getting the good or appropriate quality of services from the LTE network. Operator can also trace some of the random users to check the quality of network.
Contribution Performed requirement analysis and High level designing. Participated in creating System integration Test Plan for the LTE-MME. Responsible for coding and Testing of major modules. Handling of Field Testing Issues, finding and fixing them. Performed code Review. Performed System Integration testing of complete system.
Tools C, Wireshark, GDB, Valgrind.
Duration September 2012 to July 2013

Emergency Calls and Closed Subscriber Group (CSG) in MME
Description The support for emergency calls is required across the network and UE. Any UE can make an emergency call, provided network supports it. This means there is no authentication required for UE to make emergency call.
Closed Subscriber Group identifies a group of subscribers who are permitted to access one or more CSG cells of the PLMN.
Contribution Involved in every phase of Software development life cycle. Developed code for emergency call and CSG in C. Performed peer code review. Effectively tracking of bugs and reporting to improve system stability,
excellent ability to notice, do research and report bugs and fixed them. Provided support to system integration team and Customers.
Tools C, Wireshark, GDB, Valgrind
Duration Feb 2012 to August 2012

High Availability Factor (HAF) and Lawful interception (LI) in MME
Description High-availability in MME helps to ensure subscriber satisfaction and 99.999 percent system availability. There is a Standby MME node for every Active MME and if Active one goes down then Standby takes the role of Active MME.
MME provides the whereabouts of UE to law enforcement monitoring facility. Lawful Interception is a security process in which a service provider or network operator collects and provides law enforcement officials with intercepted communications of private individuals or organizations.
Contribution Performed requirement analysis and developed low level design. Developed code for HAF and LI features of MME in C. Preparation of Release Test Plan for the LTE-MME. Performed developer level testing, Integration testing and Regression
testing. Developed scripts in TCL to execute the test plan. Participated in debugging and fixing of bugs raised during testing.
Tools C, gdb, Wireshark, Valgrind.
