CURRENT DUTIES AND SUMMARY OF OUTPUT

Duties of this position include teaching (17%), research (51%) and extension (25%), in Agricultural Policy and Wes and Lou Watkins Chair in International Trade and Development (7%). Research and extension efforts are directed at agricultural policy and public affairs issues in agriculture and agriculture, water systems, energy and nutrition in International Development. Teaching includes undergraduate and graduate agricultural policy, advanced farm and ranch management, international development, international trade, impact of food on the development of cultures and bioenergy and sustainability. Advising of up to 55 undergraduate and 12 graduate students per year is a portion of the teaching responsibilities. Related areas of research include rural development, natural resource use, commodity markets, international (trade, development, commodity) policy, and macroeconomic links to agriculture.

A total of 18 students and staff are under my direct supervision to complete four major research project including biofuels, international development, livestock pricing and competition, and revenue assurance policy.

Accomplishments: 374 Written Documents including; 36 journal articles, 11 Congressional Testimonies, 55 research reports, 104 miscellaneous publications (extension newsletters, articles in periodicals, etc.), 18 books or book chapters, 25 papers in published proceedings, 13 project reports, and 92 papers presented at professional meetings, supported by 20 Grants and contracts for $2,086,710, receiving 19 honors and awards.

I currently serve on numerous Community, University, College and Department Committees and Boards. I am a 3 term (11 years) board member, current and past president and vice president (3 years) of the Stillwater Public Schools, a 5800 student and $38 million budget school system.

Developed Southern Agricultural Economics Association Investment Plan, 2000-2001.

Annual courses on Agricultural Policy, Macroeconomics and Environmental Issues for the Ferguson Agribusiness Management Institute/University of Tulsa.

I reviewed one Agricultural Economics undergraduate course each year and one College of Agricultural Course. The review requires that I attend classes regularly and interact with the students.

Annual Alpha, Faculty Liaison participant - help students move into the dorm, assist parents, give the "academic expectations" presentation, and attend the various Alpha activities to provide the faculty presence.

Served as Faculty associate to dorm floor -1994-1995, 1997- current.

Active in recruiting graduate and undergraduate students through visits of high schools and other academic institutions.

Attended Mediation training Sessions

Established the Boren Congressional Internship, 1991.

Established the USDA\ERS cooperative education program that provides summer positions for students and continuous financial assistance through graduate education.

Participation in the Science in Agriculture Symposium, American Farm Bureau and National Farmers Union speech contests, and the Oklahoma Agricultural Leadership program.

Assist in the recruitment by U.S. Peace Corps of agricultural students (providing one student per year).
