When asked if people like to watch motorsport based films out of the twenty five I asked, twenty two of these said that they liked to watch motorsport based films. This showed to me that motorsport was a good genre to relate my opening to a film to.

This question can be seen as biased due to the fact that it was mostly asked in the school environment, however I managed to ask some people outside of this and collected answers from each of the allocated age categories.

13I was adamant to achieve a gender equality with those who answered the questionnaire so managed to split the gender in half achieving thirteen females and twelve males.

I wanted to discover what peoples favourite genre was other than the motorsport genre. I wanted to know this to discover if I should link any other genre’s in with the main genre. Even though comedy was the most popular our group had decided that we wanted to avoid this due to wanting to portray the female protagonist in a serious and well respected way. Action was the second most popular and I felt this was the best thing to try and implement in our motorsport genre due to the element of speed and rivalry. However for opening of it we wanted a character focus, with an inclination that action was to occur in the film.

16 I wanted to discover where most people watched their films for my audience research. The most popular choice was online. I looked into this and discovered that this is due to it being easy accessible, often free and had the most variety. Their were a large amount of motorsport related films online, I looked at which ones stood out and wanted to make me watch on and why.

When looking at the genre I wanted to discover what it was about the genre that interested people about it and the elements that made them want to watch films from this genre. The main response was the fact that they liked cars (some referring to motorbikes as well) I therefore knew that I would use the involvement of a car which is typical of the motorsport genre linking it with the untypical use of a female protagonist.

I asked this question to discover if people who liked the genre also played motorsport games. It was an even split however I looked into motorsport games to see if there was any ideas that I could implement taking into consideration the virtual element.

This question gave me a clear indication to the location of my opening to the film as I was previously uncertain of whether I wanted it to be a track or road based motorsport film, the track location also linked well with formula one and the fat there are no female competitors.

Sixteen people watched motorsport outside of the film genre, this helped me as it influenced me to watch motorsport outside the film genre as well, to collect ideas from this and get a realistic aspect to make my opening to the film as realistic as possible.

There was an near equal response to preference of the gender of the protagonist. Those who picked a female also responded with the fact that females were not represented enough in motorsport and wanted to see these. Those favoring men said they wanted a strong protagonist and were happy with the stereotype.
