rePLANET TIMES NEWSLETTER JANUARY 2012 | www.rePLANETusa.com As we start another new-year we can reflect upon those things we learned in the prior year. In 2011, we certainly saw may changes. Now, we need to continue to build the rePLANET brand, bring new customers to our sites and hold-on to our existing customer base. In 2011 we experienced one of the most aggressive price wars for CRV aluminum I have seen during my many years in this industry. In 2012, we know that we need to be mindful of competitor price changes that threaten our customer base. It is not our intention to necessarily be the highest priced guy on the block however we do know that extreme price variances between us and competitors can unfavorably influence our business activity. Please communicate with your supervisor when you become aware of such things. To minimize the impact of competitors who use aggressive prices to compete with us we can respond with various techniques. We rely upon our front- line employees to be the first to identify such things and sound the alarm. By the time someone in the office sees a report indicating volume is down we may already be too far behind to recover quickly. Playing the highest-price game is a competitive strategy that any company can engage in. It is not unique and does not create customer loyalty. Given the fact that we have 1.) in most cases been able to avoid being the highest priced competitor and 2.) gotten people to go past other companies and come to us means that we are doing something different, better and of real value to our customers. In 2012, I hope we can truly exploit our unique qualities that separate us from the competition and create customer loyalty that no competitor can overcome. The quality of the customer experience provided by our Recycling Specialists is without a doubt the principal factor in delivering uniquely exceptional customer value. Providing excellent customer service remains at the forefront of our competitive strategy in 2012. In 2011, we took major steps to provide our customers with more ways to communicate with the company. This includes on-line surveys, contact-us functionality on our replanetusa.com website and even receiving comments through various social media channels such as Yelp, Twitter and Facebook. Those of you working Our actions in 2011 demonstrated the value of RVMs at rePLANET locations. Now, more than ever we need to continue educating customers about the machines . Keeping the RVMs in service requires various actions such as regular cleaning & maintenance as well as being sure to report RVMs requiring service in a timely manner. Having any machine off for any period of time is an impediment to our customer service. Do you know your RVM-percentage? at rePLANET locations are certainly aware of the new sign above your head inviting customers to tell us how we are doing.  The installation of these signs generated an immediate increase in the volume of calls to our Customer Service team here in Corona.  The feedback included both new complaints and new complements.   We remain committed to using customer feedback to

guide our business.   Are you ready to hear what your customers are saying? Finally, we know we are the best but still consider this.   One of the surveys we conducted in 2011 suggested that 35% of our customers actually drive past another recycling center to come to rePLANET.  I now challenge everyone to contemplate

a theoretical question.  Can you, without hesitation, clearly identify and articulate what it is about rePLANET that is so good that any customer should choose to recycle with us versus any competitor?  As I travel and have opportunity to meet with people through the company, I will be especially interested to hear thoughts on this matter!  Best wishes to all for a great 2012.
