Handwriting Celebration - Eva Nwofor 1A
Congratulations to Eva Nwofor in Year1A for using
beautiful handwriting.
2S Science Lesson
In 2S we have been working hard on our Science Fair
Project. Our project is exploring the effect of breakfast
on pupils' performance.
Research has shown that breakfast is the most
important meal of the day! Each morning from
Tuesday until Friday children in 2S had a Breakfast
Club.
They sat together and eat a balanced breakfast that
consists of; scrambled egg, brown bread, yoghurt and
fresh fruit juice.
Did you know?
Eggs are one of the best food
sources of choline which is
crucial for communication
involved in learning and
memory.
We did a memory task on
Tuesday without breakfast
and we did another memory
test on Friday, but this time we had our breakfast
first! Look out for the results in next week's
newsletter or visit our class during the Science Fair to
see our display.
Year 1 Trip to Alibert
Year 1 children went on a trip to Alibert to look at
different kinds of furniture and the materials they are
made from. The children had a great experience, with
finding different kinds of materials like wood,
leather, fabrics, marbles, glass etc. and what material
was best for different furniture. The staff and
management of Alibert were very welcoming and
friendly with the children.
It was a marvelous experience and the children had
fun. A big thank you to all the staff of Alibert for
accommodating our children with such a warm
welcome.
5A's Talk on the Chinese New Year
Not every country in the
world celebrates the New
Year on January 1st. In
Ethiopia New Year is
celebrated in September
and in China the New
Year will be
celebrated on Monday 8th
February.
5A had the good fortune,
last Monday morning, to
listen to a very interesting
and stimulating talk given
by Li Le's parents on the
Chinese New Year and
how it is celebrated in
China and in Chinese
communities all over the
world. 5A was treated to a colourful powerpoint
demonstrating an array of bright costumes used in
the many parades that take place all over the world
at this time. Presents are exchanged and New Year's
Resolutions made and is very much an occasion in-
volving family and friends.
This year is the Year of the Monkey. The children in
5A were born in 2005 and 2006. 2005 was the Year
of the Rooster and 2006 was the Year of the Dog.
Just as well the talk took place just before lunch as
the class saw delicious looking chinese dumplings
and spring rolls
which whetted
our appetites.
A very big thank
you to Mr and
Mrs Li for giving
up their precious
time to give such
an interesting and
colourful talk on
the Chinese Year.
Once again a very
Happy New Year
to you all, only
this time it will be
on Monday, 8th
February.
1R Class Assembly
1R had an exciting time this morning during their
Class Assembly.
The children laid emphasis on the changes in the new
Science curriculum which include the aspects
Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Primary School
Science.
The focus was on Biology and particularly animals.
The way animals are classified according to their diet
was emphasised.
Wow!! An excellent performance, the children
delivered their lines clearly and confidently.
They were dressed at first in different colourful
animal costumes and it was hilarious to hear them
making a variety animal sounds.
It was impressive to know how
much they have learnt in their
Science lessons coupled with
their extensive vocabulary. The
assembly ended with 1R using
adjectives to refer to these
animals.
Well done 1R for such a
fantastic job.

Swim Meet at AISA
We wish to remind everyone that there would be
swimming training today by 1:30pm for all the
primary boys and girls.
Remember that the Inter House Swimming
competition is on the 5th of February at 2pm.
Absence in swim training today means you can not
be registered to participate for the competition to
represent your House.
Furthermore, please we call on parents to volunteer
as they did last year to be House representatives and
record keepers. Mr Dickson is graciously assisting us
with some staff to be timers and stroke judges. We
also request parents to please donate finger snacks,
cut up or whole fruits, non fizzy juices/drinks as well
as lots of water as they also did last year.
We look forward to all your presence and assistance
as usual to make the day a beautiful and successful
event for our children as you always do.
Swimmers please remember to dress appropriately as
you come for training. Monolithic swim suit for girls
and swim shorts for boys with our swim caps,
goggles and lots of water.
