Adding images to EndNote records

With EndNote Version 7, images may be embedded within records

The Figure, Chart or Table, and Equation reference types can be used specifically to catalogue images and files.

Alternatively, graphics, figures or files can be inserted into the Image field of other reference types.

Each EndNote reference can contain only one graphic or file attachment. If you insert a second graphic or file, it will replace the first one.

Images may then be inserted into Word documents

A sequential figure list of all graphics can then be generated

After inserting a graphic, you should always fill in the Caption field. The Caption will label the graphic in the figure list at the end of your Word document.

First save the image from the source

Then open the EndNote record that you

wish to add the image to

Click on References, Insert Picture

Select the image you wish to insert

Click on Open

The image will appear in the Image field of the record.

You should enter a description of the image into the Caption field.

Inserting images into documents

To insert a citation for a figure or image within a document, highlight the required record in EndNote, place the cursor within the text, & click on Insert Citation.

To add the image itself, select Tools, EndNote 7, Find Figures(s)…

EndNote will display all of the records in that Library with images embedded. It also provides a keyword search facility.

Locate the image you require and click on Insert.

The image and caption will appear below the paragraph

To create a list of figures, place your cursor at the point in your document where you want to insert the list

Select Insert, Reference, Index and Tables…

Select the Table of Figures Tab

Select OK
