AUDIENCE FEEDBACK

Audience feedback was gathered at our college

theater where we presented our opening

sequence to 28 people and asked for their

feedback to see how we can improve our product

through questionnaires and interview.

The following questions were asked and we have

taken them into consideration:

QUESTION1

Did you understand the story line ?

YesNoSort of

16 out of 28 participants in the screening said that they did understand the story line of the movie. Seven said they did not and four stated ‘sort of’. This shows that more than half of the

participants understood what we wanted to get across however, there was a

number of people that did not, or they were confused. Therefore, we need to

improve the way we present our idea so that everyone understands and not only

the majority.

Due to this, we have changed our story line and filmed a few new scenes which included the woman in the house being in a mental institution due to her gone

crazy, as well as a new victim being introduced at the end of our opening

sequence.

Did this film feel like the beginning of a film ?

Once again, 16 out of 28 stated that it did feel like the beginning of a

film. However, there was a number of people that said it did not.

This provided us with the relevant information that helped us to decide

what we may change and what needs to be changed to make it seem as the very beginning of a

movie. Therefore, we filmed new shots

which included a crazy woman and her flashback will show us how she got to where she is. At the end we

include a new character being introduced. The idea is that the

movie will focus on the new character and her being haunted

next.

Did the sound work well with the images

?

We used a voice over in our opening sequence. Everyone

really liked when asked bout it, and stated that it caused a

feeling of suspense. However they said it was not really clear

and difficult to understand. By taking this into consideration

we recorded a voiceover by using an ediroll in a quite

environment so that it clearer and easier to understand.

QUESTION6

Did the editing suit the film and make it easy to understand

it ? YesNo

21 out of 28 participants stated that the editing did suit

the opening sequence and made it easy to understand.

However, a quarter said it did not.

I therefore, as an editor will make some changes.

Will include slow and creepy scenes as well as a differently recorded and clearer sound in the background to make the editing easy to understand.

FURTHER COMMENTS:

Praises Criticisms

*Creepiness was good. Well done.*Good editing and sound manipulation. *Good work!*Very interesting.

Taking the comments into consideration we will make the voice faster and clearer and we did this by re-recording everything.

- We did also develop the story line by making it clear who got haunted and revealing a new victim at the end. We will also make the titles shorter but keep all the editing the same.

•The voice is too slow•Story line should be developed, although it is good already.•Great editing but seems more like a trailer.•Creepy, but didn’t really understand it.•Titles are too long.•Feels more like a trailer.

ADDITIONAL FEEDBACK

I have also posted my video on social media websites to gain some

feedback from different people and ages this included facebook and

youtube. The feedback from my facebook page summed up also

included comments such as: ‘the titles are too long’ ‘the voice is

hard to understand’ and ‘it seems more like a trailer’

We therefore, decided to include a different beginning by filming

new scenes, have a clearer voice over by recording everything again

and I as the editor of the group will make sure the titles are shorter.
