Request from the Art Department With Term 2 underway, new ideas are springing from the Art Room. Outside the Art Room door each day, the school Magpie family and other birds delight us with their company and carolling. They mentioned one day, that they would love a drink and perhaps a splash in some fresh water, so we thought a birdbath, colourfully mosaiced by the children would be in order to keep our feathered friends happy. To do this, we need tiles and old pieces of ceramics; cups, saucers, plates etc, and this is where we need your help. Magpies especially, being a gregarious bunch, love colour, as we do, so the more colour the better. If you can assist by donating any old or spare tiles or china, that will greatly help in getting our idea underway. Of course, it doesn’t matter if they are broken or chipped because they are soon going to feel the crunch of the hammer anyway. All mosaic donations will be greatly appreciated and can be brought straight to the Art Room. Many thanks, Kate Parton.

The Biggest Morning Tea

Thank you to all the families for their generosity and kind donation of all the wonderful food that they brought for our Biggest Morning

Tea. The serving plates and containers have all been washed and are on the kitchen bench for you to collect.

Afrobeat Incursion Friday 1st June 2018

A reminder that the permission slips for the Afrobeat incursion are due to be returned Thursday 31/5/18. The incursion note is on your

Skool Bag App.

Grade P/1

Hi to all of our Prep/1 families, We have been very lucky to have George Ivanoff join us for the Literary festival activities at our school. George was very impressed with the amount of interest and questions our students had about his books and the writing process. Students have been working very hard in our literacy activities this week to read fluently and also to create books of our own. We have also been learning about nouns and adjectives. This week has seen the first of our transition sessions with the 2019 Preps coming to school for some mini tabloid games and a sausage sizzle to welcome them to our school. We have also had our famous Biggest Morning Tea. Thank you to all the families for bringing some delicious treats for us to share and also to all of our guests for their generous donations. Students should be commended for their amazing behaviour and hospitality shown to all of our guests. Have a great weekend!! Mrs. Fitzgerald

Grade 2/3

Hello everyone,

Well done to all the grade 3s for completing the NAPLAN tests. We are so proud of all the hard work and effort from all stude nts during this time.

After the visit from a very talented author last week, grade 2/3P have started writing and illustrating their own classroom p icture storybook. The book is coming along well and will be published in the next few weeks for parents to come and read. Thanks to all the students for singing, ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ for the Biggest Morning Tea. The performance sounded amazing and demon-strates the commitment, professionalism and talent of the students from our school. We hope you all have a great weekend! From 2/3P

Grade 4-6

Hi All, This past fortnight the students in 4-6B have enjoyed participating in many exciting activities. Four of our students (Gulliver, Jed, Keira and Mitch) joined St Leonard’s Primary school as a joint effort to represent both schools at the Bellarine District Lightning Premiership competition. Gulliver, Jed and Mitch played AFL and Keira played Netball. By all accounts, it was a fun and chal-lenging day, the boys football team placed 4th overall, at this stage we are unsure of the overall placing for the girls netball team. On Friday 18th May we celebrated the Queenscliff Literary Festival by welcoming author, George Ivanoff (Popular author of the ‘You Choose’ book series) to discuss life as an author and conduct literacy workshops. George was a loud and animated character, who captured student’s imaginations, leaving many of them filled with ideas for their own writing. On the morning of the Biggest Morning Tea, we received some exciting news that Georgia was awarded winner of the Queenscliff Literary Festival’s Portrait Competition. Georgia is a well-deserving winner of the competition, we will have her portrait displayed at QPS once we receive it back from the festival coordinators. I’m sure all present for our contribution to Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea will agree it was a successful day. I would like to personally thank the students of 4-6B for their well-mannered participation during the event and help with clean-up afterward. Every student is already looking for-ward to the 2019 Biggest Morning Tea.

Enjoy your weekend, Cameron Brown.
