Impact
MissionWe are committed to providing comprehensive after-school programs and family services that equip young people to pursue their education, achieve their full potential, and serve others.
Vision We envision, a central Los Angeles community transformed by character-driven, creative, college-educated Bresee Foundation alumni.
ImpactIn the last decade, Bresee’s proven model has:
• Awarded over $550,000 in college scholarships to 123 alumni
• Assisted over 3,500 students with college prep, tours, SAT and FAFSA classes
• Provided career-readiness and employed over 600 youth in local businesses
• Hosted ten Annual Youth Film Festivals on Social Justice
• Offered over $200,000 in emergency family assistance since 2010
• Through mentoring and case management, become a second home to over 12,000 youth and family members
In 2015, Bresee served a total of 3,912 individuals,
including 1,278 youth ages 11-18 and 2,634 adults.

Academics – Provided 281 middle schoolers with daily homework assistance, resulting in 100% grade level promotion. Provided 139 high schoolers with ongoing study hall and 296 with ongoing college prep activities, with 94% report-ing increased knowledge about college, and 98% of seniors completing a FAFSA and college application. Awarded $28,000 in college scholarships to 19 students.
Career-Readiness – Offered ongoing career-readiness and employment to 64 youth who completed paid internships. 91% reported increased knowledge and sense of career direction and 98% of seniors or older enrolled in post-secondary education, advanced vocational training, or got a job.
STEM – Engaged 82 students in weekly science and technology workshops, a STEM summer camp, and a media internship. 89% demonstrated increased interest in and value for STEM and STEM careers.
Arts – Inspired 171 youth through weekly dance, photogra-phy, art, poetry and media classes. 90% presented a completed work during bi-annual arts showcases.
Athletics – Trained 301 youth through ongoing sports leagues, recreational sports, karate, fitness and nutrition workshops, and trips, with 100% of participants increasing their weekly physical activity levels.
Service – Mentored 281 youth weekly, resulting in 100% reporting having a caring adult relationship, and 90% increasing sense of responsibility for the community. Empowered 74 youth through service-learning workshops, culminating in a neighbor-hood service project.
Los Angeles Futbol Club Youth Leadership Academy (LAFC) – Pro-vided over 900 at-risk youth with positive mentors, safe alterna-tives to gang involvement, and healthy physical activity. In 2015, LAFC provided 24 youth internships, offered soccer classes and leagues to 147, and a created a positive community space for over 700 youth and families.

Provides intensive wrap-around support for the families of the youth Bresee serves, and social and economic stability for the community at large.
• Provided financial support services, emergency rental assis-tance and food support services to 2,173 households.
• Offered case management to 287 youth focusing on academic outcomes.
• Engaged 75 parents in parenting skills workshops and ESL classes.
Prevents the most at-risk 10-15 year olds in the Olympic Zone from joining a gang through the Gang Reduction Youth Develop-ment (GRYD) Model of Practice.
• Provided 142 youth with intensive case management, family counseling and youth development activities.
