E-Culture Net: Goals
1. Research Matrix
2. Distributed European Electronic Resource (DEER) 3. European Masters and Doctorates
Distributed European Electronic Resource (DEER)
became a DEED
(Distributed European Electronic Dynamic) Resource
DEED is “an action”
“a signed and usually sealed instrument containing some legal transfer, bargainor contract.”
E-Culture NoE: Goals
1. Integrate research, methods, training, teaching 2. Integrate regional, local diversity
3. Integrate new standards, solutions and trends.
E-Culture NoE: Goals
1. Build DEED(Distributed European Electronic Dynamic) Resource
2. Fill DEED
Networks to reflect national, regional and local diversity
3.Update DEED Research Matrices with Specialised Networks.
E-Culture NoE: Long Term Goal
To provide multilingual access to Europe’s cultural and scientific heritage for all its citizens.

Books are being scanned in at
767 MB per page

Paintings are being scanned in at
30 Gigabytes per image

Reconstructions of Cities go up to
5 terabytes each

What began as a scanning of objects now includes
processes, rooms, buildings, sites, cities, cultural landscapes and
routes (silk, spice, wool, pilgrimage etc).

We need to share the rich contents of research institutions and cultural organisations
to compare research methods and to develop critical approaches
in order to achieve an European Research Area (ERA).
We need secure, multilingual access via authority files of catalogues, inventories etc.
We need to integrate these resources into European Masters, Doctorates, Training, E-Learning.

National Harmonising Team
The national representative and a small team of 5-10 persons paid by national governments could work with the MINERVA national representatives to produce directives to assure that their country takes up the standards and solutions developed at the European level or at least employs methods which are compatible with these standards. Compliancy with such directives could become a criterion for federal and EU funding.
