Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the
progression from it to the full product?

Looking at my preliminary task, my main down points were;
out of focus shots, accidental movements of the camera that
disorientated the audience, and lots of space not being
utilised due the fact that I didn't use the rule of thirds to get
better looking shots. I made sure not to make the same
mistake twice when filming the opening sequence, I made
sure to check that the clip was not out of shot. This helped to
make my opening sequence look much better. I also used
editing techniques such as match-on-action to ensure that
the audience can easily follow the character and their
movements so it was not to disorient the viewer.

As you can see, there is a great
improvement in the positioning
of the camera and the control.
In the first screenshot, the
camera is at a slanted angle,
affecting the overall look,
whereas this isn't the case in
the opening sequence

Again, great improvements in the way that
the character is represented to the
audience. The costume in the opening
sequence was planned much better to try
and match our target audience

On the day of filming, we improved greatly on how organised we were at deciding what shots to use. In the preliminary task, we used a very basic storyboard that only specified what the actors were going to do, and not how they were going to be filmed, for example angles and timing. In the opening sequence however, we used a very detailed shot list that specified exactly what the actors needed to do, where they needed to be and how they are going to be filmed. This meant that on the day of filming we were much more organised when it came to putting the actors in place and directing them. This also meant that filming time was cut down dramatically, giving us more time to edit the opening sequence and therefore making a better product in the end. In the preliminary task, we only used basic features when editing. We only used one program, which was premier pro do edit it. This was because we only understood the basics of the program and were therefore unable to use it to its full potential. In the opening sequence however, we had a much greater understanding when it came to the program, and we also used another program called after effects, which we used to add effects to the different shots and to the titles in order to try and draw more attention towards them.
