  1. 1. Look back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
  2. 2. In my preliminary task some of the framing was not very accurate that was the main issue in my preliminary task. In my first edit of my main task I broke the 180 degree rule because I think I hadnt made this mistake in my preliminary task so I wasnt wary of it happening. One of the shots at 0:17 went out of focus I my preliminary task. In the main task I tried to make sure that the framing was in the correct position and as a result of learning from the preliminary task this was much better. The sound in my main task was also much better because I used a microphone, which I decided to do after my preliminary task, as the sound was not very good.
  3. 3. I also wanted to film my main task in a countryside setting because I filmed my preliminary task in a school setting which meant there were a lot of people around and the set wasnt quiet which my film required. I also decided not to set it in a school setting because for the thriller genre it wouldnt have been suitable. I worked in a pair and we split the work load evenly however for me it is easier to work on my own because I wouldnt want to compromise my creativity in making a film and I felt that if I worked with someone else I wouldnt be entirely satisfied with the outcome.
  4. 4. It also meant that I was more ambitious with my storyline. The preliminary task helped me to have steadier hands while filming and to get used to the tripod as that took up a lot of my time trying to adjust it. We had some problems with the actors, as they couldnt make the date so we quickly had to organise another actor. This was very stressful and I tried to organise my actors as quickly as possible for my main task so I wouldnt have to worry about this as it can have an effect on the quality of the other aspects of planning if you spend too much time concentrating on organising actors.
  5. 5. I filmed my film in school because I felt that this was an appropriate setting for the storyline. I decided not to use lighting because I wanted the film to have a dark filter and also I thought it would hinder me as I didnt know how to use the lighting kit. I left myself a lot of time to edit my film on Final Cut Pro X as I didnt do this with my Western so the editing wasnt very good and I thought it had to be very good especially because it was a thriller film and these type of films require more editing than say a western.
  6. 6. I also needed some time to learn about all the techniques that I could use in Final Cut Pro X and my preliminary task helped me with this. For my preliminary task I didnt meet the deadline for putting my preliminary task on the blog as I had technical difficulties with the internet so I tried to leave myself a lot of time before my deadlines to take something like this into account.
  7. 7. From my Western I also learned that I had to organise my actors and location very quickly as it meant that I would meet my deadlines and you also have to make sure that the actors you choose are reliable and are open to re- film if you have to so they should be available for a long period of time.
