Tuesday:Achieve, achievement, aggression, aggressive, ancient:

The rule ‘i before e, except after c’ can help you remember the spelling of ‘achieve. You could also draw round the shape of the word, write the tricky parts in different colours, or write double letters in different colours. Sayings, such as ‘goodness gracious, so scary’, can help you remember that there are 2 ‘g’s and 2 ’s’s in aggressive.

Wednesday:Apparent, apparently, appreciate, appreciated, available:

For ‘appreciated’ and ‘available’, I wrote the tricky part of the word in another colour. You can also write any double letters in a different colour, or find hidden words-within-words: did you know the word ‘parent’ is in apparently?

Thursday:Attach, attached, attachment, average, awkward:

Different colours can help you learn tricky parts of words. Remember that the only ‘t’s in ‘attach’ are next to each other, there are no ‘t’s at the end of the word.

Friday: recap of words linked to those studied this week.Accommodation, accompanying, awkwardly, averaged, attachable:

Different colours, or repeatedly writing a word, can help you memorise the spelling so you never forget it! You can remember that accommodation has double c and double m by imagining that the word has to ‘accommodate’ all the letters that it can.Additional ideas:

Secret Agent Words - Number the alphabet from 1 to 26, then convert your words to a number code.

Other Handed - If you are right-handed, write with your left, or vice versa.

Create an activity - Can you think of a fun way to do your spelling activities?

Dirty Words - Write your words in mud or sand.
