CLAIRE THOMPSON WELL-WISHERS lined the streets of Kenthurst to greet Pope Ben- edict XVI and his entourage on Sunday, as the spiritual leader made his way to the Hills. In the issue of July 1, the Hills Shire Times exclusively revealed the Pope’s secret hideaway was to be at the Opus Dei Kenthurst Study Centre. He will spend three days there before starting his official World Youth Day duties on Thursday. The Pope’s plane touched down at Richmond RAAF Base on Sunday at about 3pm and a motor- cade took him to the retreat. Resident Laura Glibo was one of about 400 people who waved ban- ners and shouted ‘‘long live the Pope’’ in different languages. ‘‘There was a combination of pilgrims and locals there,’’ she said. ‘‘I got talking to a local girl who has Brazilian pilgrims stay- ing with her.
