Principal’s Report.

Welcome back to Term 2, one in which there is plenty happening to keep us all busy over the 10 weeks. The following events are just a smidgen of what’s on offer. K-2 Aquarium excursion, NAPLAN for Yrs 3 & 5, Mother’s day stall, BPS ANZAC ceremony, Year 5 Camp, Starstruck, Silver level reward day, Softball gala day, Interrelate Yrs 5 & 6 and much more. Keep an eye on our very popular Facebook page for updates on these events along with a multitude of other news and interesting school happenings.

Farewell Mrs. Freund

Our 6F teacher, Mrs Michelle Freund has been successful via merit selection and has taken up a new role as Teacher Librarian at Warners Bay P.S. On behalf of everyone at Biddabah we wish to congratulate Michelle on this appointment and thank her for her service to the school and community over a number of years. Mrs Freund’s outstanding capacity across a number of areas, in particular Technology, will be missed but I am sure her broad skillset will add value to the WBPS team.

I am pleased to report that our security upgrade has reached the halfway stage with the completion of the new front fence along the Medcalf St boundary. This is quite timely following a spate of frustrating, minor vandalism episodes during the Easter break. For your convenience, the gates will remain unlocked between 6am and 6pm Monday to Friday. They will be locked on weekends and during school holidays. The rear security fencing will be completed by the end of this term.

OC class Year 5 2020. Opportunity classes cater for high achieving, academically gifted and talented Year 5 and Year 6 students. They are located in 75 government primary schools in NSW. (n.b. Biddabah P.S does not have an OC class).

These classes help gifted and talented students to learn by grouping them with other gifted and talented students, teaching them in specialised ways and providing educational materials at the appropriate level. Students who are placed attend the opportunity class full time in Years 5 and 6. If you would like to have your child considered for Year 5 opportunity class entry in 2020, you need to apply soon. You will need to apply on the internet using a valid email address (not the student’s email address).

No assembly awards were given out this week due to Staff

Development Day on Monday. Assemblies resume each Monday at

2.15pm from next week (2)

P and C news.

Welcome back everyone to

term 2. We hope that you all

had a lovely break over the

school holidays.

The Mother’s Day stall is being held on Wednesday 8 May.

As always, Kellie Andriessen has organised lots of lovely,

affordable gifts for the students to purchase during the stall.

A note will go home this week with the list of what is

available to buy.

A reminder that, school hats can be purchased directly on

Tuesdays at 8.30am from the uniform shop and also

Monday to Friday from the school office. The cost of school

hats is $15.00.

Don’t forget, that the school canteen is now operated by

the team from LUNCHKINS. The canteen is open 5 days a

week and for both lunch and recess. The food options on

the menu are available everyday of the week. If you have

any questions or feedback, Kim and Kim encourage you to

go and see them at the canteen.
