    Focus of the week……….

    Buddy says

“ I am on time every time”

Achievement awards for weeks 2 & 3 T1 were presented to

Future Focused Learners who have demonstrated excellence in our

three core areas of "Safety, Respect and Responsibility".

    Principal’s Report.

Welcome to our new Biddabah families and our returning

families to what promises to be a very exciting year ahead. The

Term has already got off to a flying start with some new

innovations and a ‘tweaking’ of some of our old favourites. For

example, whole school assemblies are once again weekly and

will take place every Monday at 2.15pm. This is designed to

provide increased access to parents wanting to celebrate

student recognition. Similarly, in order to get early feedback

and input from parents as to how we can best support the

academic, social and emotional needs of students, mid year

parent/teacher interviews have been moved to Week 6 Term

    1. It is hoped that this earlier exchange of information will allow

teachers to hit the ground running armed with a complete

picture of how to best structure the learning environment to

    maximise individual student outcomes.

I am thrilled to report that our canteen is now fully operational

once again with our successful tenderer “Lunchkins” (Kim B and

Kim R) commencing business week 1 providing affordable,

healthy recesses and lunches every Monday to Friday.

In terms of enrolments and staffing, our numbers are well down

on 2018 due to the very large Year 6 cohort of 2018 moving on

to high school. As a result we have 379 students enrolled in 15

classes across the school. Our staff remains largely unchanged

for the new year. (See full list provided).

    Our annual

    swimming carnival

    was a great success

    last week and should

    set the tone for a

    fabulous year of

    energy, enthusiasm

    and participation

from our wonderful students. Special thanks to our staff and to

the kind parents who braved the heat to help out with

timekeeping and other voluntary roles on the day. Much

    appreciated.

In order to get our senior students off to a positive start to the

year, we are hosting our inaugural “Friendship Forum” on

Wednesday Feb 27. Students in Years 4 to 6 will take part in a

range of ‘hands on’ workshops and activities designed to build

    resilience, connectedness and anti-bullying strategies.

  • Swimming Carnival

Congratulations to all students who participated in our School Swimming Carnival on Friday 8 th February. A huge thank you

to all parents who assisted with time keeping on the day. We couldn’t run the carnival without our parent helpers. Students

will be presented with their place ribbons at their respective Stage Assemblies next week (Stage 1 – Wednesday 20th,

2:15pm, Stage 2 – Friday 22nd, 2:15pm, Stage 3 – Thursday 21st, 2:15pm). We ran many heats in some events on the day

and ribbons are awarded to the fastest times recorded for each event.

Our age champions will be presented with their medals at a whole-school assembly at a date to be advised.

Congratulations to those students selected to represent Biddabah at the Westlakes Zone Swimming Carnival on Tuesday

19th February. Students with the top two fastest times for each event are invited to attend the Zone Carnival, however,

students must also reach the Westlakes Zone qualifying times as well. We wish these students the best of luck at Zone.

We are sure they will represent Biddabah with pride.
