the mine from the National Route B2 (Swakopmund – Windhoek

Road) and the rail siding at Arandis.

The assignment entailed the preliminary and detail design for

the new mine access and haul road (±35km) plus the minerailway siding to Trekkopje Mine, Royal HaskoningDHV

delivered the project requirements and took full responsibility for

the successful execution of the project. Work was done in

conjunction with a Namibian based company (CSA) for local

support and inputs where required.Services included: Route location and traffic study, participation

in public meeting, topographical survey, materials investigation

preliminary and detailed design and tender documentation.

access and haul road to the Nkomati Mine.

Feasibility Study for the Sadiola Mine

dumpers which have a fully weight of 250 tons. These dumpersalso have a full laden height in the order of 10 metres.

2010Brief Description: Update and compile a construction and operational environmental

management plan for the Kao Diamond Mine to include the new

infrastructure to be developed on site.

This project also stems from a requirement outlined by the

Department of Environmental Affairs due to the change ofownership of the mine.

Specialist studies which were undertaken during the assessment

included, air quality, noise quality, visual, biodiversity, freshwater

ecology, soils, geo-hydrology, social, heritage, wetland delineation.

Full public consultation was also undertaken.New infrastructure development which was assessed included,

housing, a clean water dam, relocation of the existing tailings

facility, and the relocation of certain beneficiation processes on

site.

Comparison with the South African ambient air quality standards is

made to determine compliance.

coal at Port Louis, Mauritius.

The proposed coal terminal was to be developed on reclaimed

land at the port adjacent to an existing coal terminal and fuel

storage farms, in order to service a coal fired power stationdeveloped in the vicinity.

Risks associated with the addition of another coal terminal in such

close proximity to the fuel storage tanks on site needed to be

assess for explosive risk.

In addition the overall environmental impacts associated with airquality, noise quality, marine impacts, visual impacts and overall

coastal degradation were assessed.
