My Role
Hardware lead: hardware choice and assembly, packaging design, Arduino / Zigbee software troubleshooting.
Gameplay
Players hide all nodes and must find them in order, competing to see who can find them the fastest. Active nodes flash a light and emit beeping sounds that increase in frequency with time, until the player presses the button on the node.

Inspiration
The pickaxe holds special importance as a symbol of the relationship between man and the enviornment. I wanted to pay tribute to this while creating a whimsical mood reminiscent of being outside camping.

Explanation
The user winds the party hat atop the head and releases, causing the flippers to flap vertically and tail to shimmy from side to side. Who says beached whales don’t know how to have a good time?
Wind-up motor interfaces with a cental axle via bevel gears
Scotch and yoke mechanism creates tail shimmies. Scotch fixed to central axle via a radius
Elliptical disk collides with flippers each revolution, creating vertical flapping

An interactive prototype designed around users through interviews and benchmarking local toilets in Khulna, Bangladesh.

Team of 4. Designed and analyzed linkage systems and geometries, designed components in Illustrator.
Explanation
A motor powers the front legs, with a timing belt connecting the hind legs and tail for ordered movement: front, tail, hind. Roopert has a top speed of 2 inches / second.

Design a motorized crawler to scale platforms spaced 6” apart and oriented at 60 degrees. Gear ratio 512:1. Third best motor efficiency out of 35 crawlers.Restricted materials.
