Indra Nooyi is a Chairman, President and Member of Special Advisory Board of Pepsico, Inc, the fourth-largest Food and Beverage Company in the world.

She is United State’s one of the top female executives and believed to be the highest-ranking woman of Indian heritage in corporate America.

BIOGRAPHY

Indra K Nooyi was born on 28 October, 1955 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. She is a daughter of Krishnamurthy (Accountant in State bank of Hyderabad) and Shantha Krishnamurthy. She has one elder sister named Chandrika Tandon and brother Narayan Krishnamurthy.

From Holy Angels AIHSS, Chennai, she had completed her schooling and received a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics and Math from Madras Christian College in 1974. She also completed Post Graduate Diploma in Management (MBA) from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta in 1976.

CAREER

At Johnson & Johnson and textile firm Mettur Beardsell, she got a product manager positions and started her career in India.

At Yale, she had completed her summer internship with Booz & Company.

In 1980, she joined the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and later spend her four years as Senior Vice President of Strategy, Planning and Strategic Marketing for Asia Brown Bovary, Inc.

She was also Vice President and Director of Corporate Strategy and Planning at Motorola, Inc.

Indra Nooyi joined PepsiCo and served as a Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning from 1994 until 1996. She also served as a Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Development from 1996 until 2000. After serving as Senior Vice President till 2000, she was elected by the PepsiCo’s Board of Directors and became President and Chief Financial Officer in 2001.

Indra Nooyi spent her childhood in Chennai. Herfather worked at the State Bank of Hyderabad andher grandfather was a district judge. Indra Nooyi'smother encouraged her and her sister to deliverspeech on every night about what they wanted tobe. After the speech the winner would get a piece of chocolate. This activity installed confidence andambition in these little hearts, which helped themto pursue greater heights in the later parts of theirlife.
