Examples of local companies with a high emotional intelligence aptitude and focused strategy on people, planet and prot include: Barney & Barney, who give their employees generous Volunteer Time Off (VTO) to contribute to the community; Sempra Energy, a champion of sustainability practices through their low-carbon business model; and Mission Federal Credit Union , who for years has supported numerous nonprot partners, giving of their time, talent and treasure. If by now you’ re not sold on the strat- egy of people, planet, and prot, there’s a strong possibility your customers and employees are. Consider the possible ramications of implementing a CSR strategy to your new or existing business model: Your employees feel irreplace- able , regarded as assets with high value contributions; your customer feels deeply connected to your brand because of your unique investment in their situation and needs; and your business is making less of an environmental footprint. If any of these outcomes do not sound desirable to you, keep doing business as usual. How- ever, the rising tide of business is headed in an entirely different direction, where “business as usual” is about to take on a whole new meaning.
