The City of Adrian plans to apply for the upcoming 2021-2022 Texas Community Development Fund from the TexasCommunity Development Block Grant (TxCDBG) Program ofthe Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). Accordingly, TheCity is seeking to contract with a qualified Engineering Firmregistered to practice in the State of Texas to A) prepare certainapplication material necessary for application submission to theTexas Department of Agriculture for the 2021-2022 TxCDBGProgram and B) {Contingent upon funding availability from TDA}Provision of engineering services associated with projectimplementation including all preliminary and final design plans andspecifications, and to conduct all necessary interim and finalinspections. These services are being solicited to assist the Cityin its application preparation and project implementation of aTxCDBG contract, if awarded, to support water and/or sewersystem improvements in the City of Adrian.

Public NoticeVega ISD is now accepting referrals for students who mayneed Gifted/Talented Services for the school year. Thisprogram is designed for students who exhibit intellectual andcreative thinking abilities at an extraordinary level not normallyserved in the regular classroom. Services are provided onlyupon identification of education needs of the student. Anyonewishing to refer a student attending Vega ISD in kindergartenthrough twelfth grade this school year is asked to go by thestudent’s campus office and request a copy of the referralform. This form must be returned to the school by September30. Those unable to go by the school should call 267-2123to request a form be sent to them.

News from Vega FFA: September RecapOn September 10th, Vega FFA hosted a kickoff party
for Vega FFA members. We had a cornhole tournament andlots of Chick-fil-A. Congratulations to Casen and BradenBrorman for winning the tournament!
Last week, we attended an Amarillo District Meetingat Canyon. We ate a meal, attended leadership workshops,and discussed new business.
This past weekend the Vega FFA Ag Mechanics teamcompeted at the Tri-State Fair with projects that were builtlast year. These are the results: Ty Gouldy, Riley & BradyTiemann, Kyler Conatser, and Armando Trujillo placed thirdwith their Welding Trailer. Braden Lancaster and Pablo Lopezplaced third with their Shop Table. Nash Fowler placed firstwith his Chess Table. Maigyn Ellis placed first with herBarbecue Pit. Trypp Busby placed first with his Pickup Bed.Coy and Brooklyn Fowler placed first with their Dump Trailer,as well as winning Reserve Grand Champion Overall. Conner,Braden, Casen Brorman, and Maci Hartsell placed first withtheir Seed Tender Trailer, as well as winning Grand ChampionOverall. Vega FFA was also the Sweepstakes winner.Congratulations to all who competed at the Tri-State Fair!
Conner Brorman and Ashleigh Carlson received theirLone Star FFA Degree this week. This is the highest degreethey can receive at the state level. They were awarded this atthe 2020 Texas FFA State Convention, but they receivedtheir diploma and pin this week because the convention wasvirtual. Congratulations to Conner and Ashleigh!
Next week we will start Vega FFA member spotlightsfor the junior class. I hope everyone has an amazing week!
