Principal’s Report Amanda Williams Recumbent Bike 2019 Our FPS 2019 Recumbent bike team has continued on to the Energy breakthrough competition in Maryborough despite extreme temperatures and high winds. They started the trip with a quick safety briefing in the staff room then loaded a convoy of cars with food, tents, marquees, bikes, bike parts and children. We wish all teams a great experience and thank the many parents who have accompanied our students with such a positive mindset and enthusiasm. They have also spent months organising and training our students. A huge thank you to supporting teachers Michael C, Agata and Brianna. Hot weather-Sun safety-hydration - hats and water As you know, we are experiencing some very hot weather. Please remind your child to bring a wide brimmed and clearly named hat to school. Children who do not have a hat are only allowed to play in the shade during play times. Students also need to bring a clearly named water bottle. At FPS we only drink water, as it is the best for our learning brains. Students are permitted to drink from their water bottles in learning time. We prefer our students bring a water bottle than take breaks in their important learning time to exit the classroom and drink at the taps. Astronomy lunchtime lecture next Tuesday in the Library Next Tuesday lunchtime, Neil Champion from Astronomical Society of Victoria will be running a lunchtime telescope activity for our students. Students will learn about the parts of the telescope and how it works. This is in preparation for the Moon Gazing evening at MAC on Tuesday 3 rd Dec at 8.30pm. Attendance to the lunchtime lecture is free and students just need to go to the library if they are interested. Instrumental Music Concert learning an instrument in 2020 It is nearly that time of year again, when our students can showcase their musical talents in the 2019 Instrumental Music Concert on Wednesday 11 th of November in our hall 6pm. Well done to all our students who are so busy attending practise sessions and are applying themselves to perform like real professional musicians in front of an audience. If you would like your child to learn an instrument in 2020, an Expression of Interest form will be sent out next week. Happy Learning!
