Overwhelmed by God’s Grace

Great Gospel Campaign and Fire Conference

Tamale is the capital of northern Ghana and estimated to be the third largest city in the country (after Accra and Kumasi). It is one of the fastest growing cities in West Africa. Situated at the cross-ing of three ancient trade routes, the city quickly developed into a trade center, mainly for salt. Even today, the central market and the tribal king’s palace mark the junction of these ancient roads. Now the city has spread far into the surrounding areas and has been growing rapidly in recent years. Due to its central location, today Tamale is the hub for politics and economy in northern Ghana.

In January 1987 – exactly 30 years ago – CfaN held a Great Gospel Campaign here. It was a wonderful event that had great impact on the whole region. Now a new generation of people has grown in Tamale who also need to hear the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Overwhelmed by God’s Grace

That 1987 Campaign in Tamale is where we started counting the completed decision cards that usher new believers into the fol-low-up system. From the founding days of CfaN in 1974 till that time, we had never kept statistics. But here at our 2017 Tamale Campaign – 30 years and 76 million decision cards later – we were full of ex-pectancy of what God would do in this beautiful city.

It quickly became clear we would face various spiritual challeng-es in this region so influenced by Muslims. The local imams warned people against attending our meetings. On the second night of the Campaign, Daniel wrote this in our CfaN Newsletter: “Please join us in praying for a real breakthrough here. While we are seeing some wonderful miracles, I feel like there is so much more for this region. I believe there is a spiritual battle being waged over Tamale and we need God’s people to bombard heaven for the breakthrough.”

And indeed the situation changed. The Lord answered our prayers. More and more people of different faiths at-tended the evening meetings. Many of them were touched by the power of God and received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Particularly on the second night, as Daniel was preaching about the power of the Blood of Jesus, demonic forces manifested through screaming and wailing.

On Saturday, Daniel received a word of knowledge, similar to one he received the day before. Someone’s paranasal sinuses were blocked by a tumor. On the last evening this English woman came forward, testifying that she had had problems in her sinuses since a tonsillectomy when she was seven years old. She had not been able to breathe through her nose for all the years since. But after the prayer for the sick, her sinus-es opened and she can now breathe again freely!

felt like God answered by “fire” during the prayer for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. These meetings are specifically aimed at the local pastors and church workers. Many of the attendees were deeply touched by the Glory of God, and an awareness of God’s presence filled all of us. During the evangelis-tic meeting that evening, God’s pres-ence fell again all over the massive field after the prayer for the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

By the final service on Sunday, the crowd had more than doubled from the previous day. It was a wonderful breakthrough. But this time, some-thing remarkable happened behind the stage as well. In the area behind the platform, which is not lit by our light poles, about 35,000 people stood in the dark. They were mostly Mus-lims who had come to the meetings despite the local imams’ warnings. When Daniel invited them to accept Jesus, thousands lifted their hands and prayed the prayer of salvation. One thing is for sure: Tamale will never be the same again.

Without exception, the greatest of all miracles is when many thousands accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.

During the Fire Conference, Rev. Charles Ciepiel ministered to the local pastors and church leaders. He also led praise and worship several times throughout the Campaign.

FIRE CONFERENCE

Time and again we watch the Lord emphasize certain types of healing miracles for particular regions. In Tamale it was quite remarkable to see how many people had been suffering from the effects of strokes.

This 28-year-old man had been deaf in his left ear from birth. During prayer, he felt

fire on his ear and realized he could hear. Daniel tested his hear-

ing on the platform.

Thirty years and 76 million decision cards later:

During our first Tamale Campaign in 1987, we started keeping the statistics of all

completed decision cards, ushering all new Christians into the follow-up system.

During prayer for the sick on the second evening, Daniel received a word of knowledge for a person with a tumor in the nose. A woman came forward testifying that she had had a tumor in her nose for about six years, causing numerous health issues. She was also suffering from pain in her chest and asthma. But that very evening, Jesus touched and healed her!

After a stroke, this elderly lady had not been able to walk,

stand or sit properly for ten years. She had

been to several hospitals, but was told every time that they could not help

her. But Jesus did help her! He healed her on the third evening of the Campaign.

LAGOS 2017 | PASSING THE TORCH

Lagos is one the largest and most influential Nigerian cities. It has grown into a metropole of about 17.5 million inhabitants – a number continuously rising. This is more than even the most densely populated German federal state, North Rhine-Westphalia, and about double the population of Austria or Switzerland. It is assumed that Lagos, being the most densely populated African city, will soon become the world’s third largest metropole.

This huge port city is booming, which leads countless migrants here from all over the world to find work and a new way of life. Most of them come from mainly Muslim regions throughout Africa.

THERE ARE INNUMERABLE PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER HEARD THE GOSPEL.

Our Millennium-Crusade took place here in 2000 – an unprecedented event in CfaN’s history. In one service attended by 1.6 million people, more than 1 million people received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Sav-ior, documenting their decisions by filling in decision cards.

UNPARALLELED? YES! BUT IT GOES ON!

God has spoken clearly to Reinhard and Daniel. And as you know, when God speaks, we at CfaN go.
