Onward The twice monthly NCF Newsletter

Issue 12: Sunday 18th June 2017

Ponderings:

Hello,

Almost six months of 2017 has gone already! What plans do you

have for the rest of the year? Seeing friends or family? More weeding

to be done in the garden? Moving house? Finish that book that you

started a while ago? Visit the new Aldi and Lidl when they open in a

few weeks time? A holiday? Try to discover a bank account that gives

a better savings rate? Buy a new pair of shoes?

What spiritual plans do you have? How is your Bible reading

going? What effort do you make to stop everything for a period of time

each day and listen to God? Do you need to forgive someone for what

they said about you a while ago? Is there a country, people group or

organisation that you want to discover more about so that you can pray

for them? Have you determined to encourage more people?

It is easy to put all sorts of plans off and not get around to things

that matter. The person who wrote the letter to the Hebrews around

1,950 years ago reminds us of something really important: focus on

Jesus. Millions of people have followed Him through the centuries. We

are encouraged to follow Him and His example today. Don’t allow

anything to get in the way of you doing this. Follow Jesus totally. Fol-

low Jesus utterly. Make Him your priority - today and tomorrow.

Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses

[who have borne testimony to the Truth],

let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight)

and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us,

and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence

the appointed course of the race that is set before us,

Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus,

Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith

[giving the first incentive for our belief]

and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection].

He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him,

endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame,

and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Christ for all Nations was founded by Reinhard Bonnke in

1974. They conduct mass open air campaigns predominantly in

Africa, often seeing “signs and wonders” following. So far they

report that over 75 million people have said “Yes” to following

Jesus through their work.

Reinhard was born in present day Kalingrad in 1940 and stud-

ied at Bible College in South Wales in the 1960s. Over the last

few years he has had some health issues. This has resulted in

him doing far less up-front ministry, though he often posts on

his own Facebook page. His successor is Daniel Kolenda. Pray

for both of these men.

Large scale evangelistic events have been held all over the

world - even in Nuneaton on several occasions! Pray that God

will enable and encourage the Church throughout the world to

evangelise effectively - through large means or small. Pray that

NCF will know how to spread the Gospel in relevant and ap-

propriate ways. We hope that many will come to know Him in

Nuneaton from all ages, religions and socio-economic groups.

We long to see people accepting Jesus as their Saviour for the

first time as well as Prodigals returning to the Family of God.

Pray that God will give us a hunger for this and will show us

how to work with others so that He is glorified.
