Cornish Law Firm to be part of National Small Business Saturday Initiative

A P Bassett Solicitors of Lostwithiel are delighted to be one of the 100 small businesses in the UK to be celebrated by Small Business Saturday UK on the 6th December this year.

“More of the local, less of the global! That’s what we want to see”, says Principal of the firm Paul Bassett. “Our office is based in the gorgeous and historic town of Lostwithiel in East Cornwall and one of the things I love about it, is that the shops and businesses are small and independent. It really does take all sorts of small businesses to make a successful high street and Lostwithiel is a fine example.”

A P Bassett Solicitors is a family run law firm with a heart for face to face business. Joy Bassett office manager says, “The relationship between client and solicitor is really important. One of the advantages of being small is the ability to keep things personal and friendly”.

On the big day A P Bassett Solicitors will be holding two free workshops:

1) Social Media for local small businesses to help get them started. A good number of the town’s businesses are already using social media including the Business Group which uses the social media identity LoveLostwithiel. Not only is it a good way to promote your business, but it is also a friendly way of building relationships with regular holiday makers and visitors to the town. Customers can stay in touch with the business owners they have made contact with. That works especially well for the antique shops and holiday lets.

2) Contracts and Agreements – What Every Small Business Needs to Know about what agreements, terms and conditions they should have in place to make their business relationships work well.

The Tweet Bus will also be in town on the day taking photos of the participating businesses and posting them on Twitter, so watch out for those tweets! Everyone can join in the campaign by sharing the message #shoplocal.

Small Business Saturday is a grass-roots, non-political, non-commercial campaign that supports, inspires and promotes small business and encourages people to support small businesses in their communities, both on the Saturday itself and beyond. It is a time to focus on our nation's small businesses, which provide almost two thirds of private sector employment and almost half of private sector turnover.

This year Small Business Saturday in the UK will take

place on the 6th December, one of our busiest

shopping days of the year.
