LITURGY CORNERSo here we approach the last days of Lent. If youhaven’t been able to attend Stations of the Cross, don’t worry, we still have 2 more you can attend. The 14 Stations of the Cross are the story of

Jesus’ passion and death. Traditionally, they are prayed duringLent and on Good Friday. A reason the Stations of the Crosscan be a powerful prayer is that Jesus’ story of struggle anddeath is the story of every human being - child or adult. Whohasn’t been condemned or blamed unjustly for something, asJesus was in the first station? Who hasn’t been helped by thekindness of another, as Jesus was when Veronica wiped hisface or Simon carried his cross? We all have fallen and we allhave gotten up - sometimes stronger for the fall andsometimes more hurt and tired because of it. Most important, though, the Stations of the Cross offer us the finale of Jesus’story when we’re still in the middle of our own. The Stationsbring us to Jesus’ resurrection - a reminder that we are movingtoward new life as well. Please join us this Friday at 7PM inthe Chapel and on Good Friday in the Church.

FAITH AT HOMEThe reality of death is an inescapable horizon onour lives. For people of faith, it does not

occasion despair but sober reflection and a summons tounderstand in faith the promise of eternal life andResurrection, which the Lord Jesus offers us. Adults: How does the prospect of dying shift the waythat I view my life today? How can it draw me intodeeper faith? Children: How can I stay connected withpeople who have died and gone to God? A FamilyPerspective: Jesus' promise of eternal life is a centralelement of our Catholic faith. Our Gospel todayinvites us to acknowledge Jesus' power over death, evidenced in the raising of Lazarus, and to anticipateJesus' conquering of death once and for all in His deathand Resurrection. We sometimes use examples fromnature to help describe this mystery of our faith. Jesushimself talked about the seed that dies when planted inthe ground in order to produce new life. Using thatimage and others, we find hope and confidence inJesus, the Resurrection and the life.

Dear Friends,

This week we had better luck since it didn't snow that much. However, it is still messy from theprevious storms. There is another tree down by the Chapel but thank God our beautiful and historicChapel wasn’t affected by it. I have to admit that we were lucky here at the Church and at theRectory. We didn’t lose power and the damage wasn’t significant. However, these storms become anexpensive ordeal. It takes time, effort and money to bring things back to normal. The biggest problemis that many parishioners have to stay home for their safety and the attendance on those badweather weekends is very light. Therefore, so are our collections. I would like to suggest to those ofyou who have the ability to join our “Online Giving” method of contribution to be part of this wonderfulway to support our Parish. I know many people are not good with computers, but there are manywho can do this and our Online Giving participation is still low. It is easier and you will be able tosupport our Parish no matter the weather or wherever you are, in the cold winter of New Jersey orhaving a great time in the warmth of Florida.

The countdown continues! Now there is one week left to welcome Holy Week. We began ourchildren's confessions. Last Sunday we did 3rd -5th grade and this Sunday we are doing 9th and 10th

graders from the Confirmation Program. Also on Tuesday the 20th we will finish with the TuesdayProgram 3rd- 5th at 4:00PM and 6th-8th at 7:00PM. We really enjoy these honest and innocentconfessions. May God bless our children and increase their faith in Him.

Last Saturday we celebrated the First Communion Retreat and I have already received somefeedback about how good it was for the parents and the children. Even some of the little ones havemade very positive comments. I am very happy our children enjoyed it. I can’t wait until we can givethem Communion and see how they long to receive Jesus in their little hands.

On Sunday we also had our retreat for the Confirmation Program. The teens were discussing picking their names for Confirmation. The discussion ended up talking about becoming a Saintthemselves and some of them seemed surprised. Probably they never thought about it before. Thetruth is that we all are called to become Saints of God. I know there is a long way to go yet, but wecannot give up trying. The Saints were ordinary people who did the right thing before God andothers. Having said that, I think we still have an opportunity.

Just a quick reminder about the Stations of the Cross on Fridays at 7:00PM, those who haveattended are very happy. It is another chance to pray and meditate about the Passion of the Lord onhis way to the Cross. The Stations during Holy Week will be at 8:00PM at the Church instead of theChapel.

The “Welcome Home to Healing Program” has come to its end. Next Monday March 19th we will haveour Penance Service at the Church at 7:00PM. All are invited to come for confessions if you haven’tdone so yet. Let’s prepare ourselves to celebrate the Greatest Feast of our Faith, the Resurrection ofthe Lord.

May God bless you all,

Fr. Roberto
