Dear Friends,�We are all aware of the growing epidemic of addiction to opioid drugs in our country and in our county. We are aware of it, but we often do not talk about it. Yet we need to talk about it in order to support people and families �affected by it. I am aware of families in both Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Anne who have lost loved ones due to drug addiction. I suspect that there are others of whom I am unaware. With the help of Catholic Family Center, I wish to open a conversation about prevention of drug addiction, access to treatment, and ways in which our faith community can provide support to families and friends of those who are addicted or have died from addiction. Our Lady of Lourdes+St. Anne is sponsoring two sessions entitled Our Faith Community Responds to Substance Use & Addiction. The first session will be in the St. Anne Social Hall on Monday, May 21st at 7PM. The second will be in the church at Our Lady of Lourdes on Tuesday, June 21st at 7PM. Each session will end about 8:30. You are welcome attend either or both sessions. The presentation at Our Lady of Lourdes will have a larger focus on �prevention. Please invite any friends or relatives who may be interested.�

Thank you to Betsy Liano for organizing the farewell reception for Jeriann McEvoy last Sunday, and thank you to everyone who helped her. �Congratulations to all of our young people who have celebrated First �Communion and Confirmation this month, and thank you to their parents, and grandparents who have helped them prepare for these sacraments. Thank you also to Kristen Walsh, our Director of Faith Formation and Sacramental Preparation, for organizing and overseeing our sacramental preparation pro-grams, and to the catechists who worked with her in preparing the children.�

This weekend we welcome our new Pastoral Associate, Deacon Bill �Rabjohn, at St. Anne, and next weekend we will welcome him at Our Lady of Lourdes.�

All are welcome�parents/caregivers, family members and friends who are affected by the addiction of a loved one, or have lost a loved one to addiction, and persons currently ex-periencing concerns with their substance use. Please allow us the opportunity to support you on this difficult journey and begin the process of healing. We offer acceptance, compas-sion and a safe place to understand more about this topic.�

up individual meeting to discuss particulars, answer questions and set a date. The next meeting is 6/23 at SA. Since this is a process, we count on you to plan ahead (call at least 3�6 months ahead) to pre-pare well.
