LENTEN GUIDES FOR FASTING AND ABSTINENCE
The Church teaches that Catholics in good health are to
observe the following practices during Lent unless for some
serious reason they are unable to do so. Catholics between the
ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and
Good Friday. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old and older
must abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and
all the Fridays of Lent.
Fasting as explained by the U.S. bishops means partaking of
only one full meal and two smaller meals that do not equal the
main meal. Abstinence forbids the use of meat, but not of eggs,
milk products or condiments made of animal fat. The Easter
fast must be kept sacred and should be celebrated everywhere
on Good Friday, and where possible should be prolonged
throughout Holy Saturday so that the faithful may attain the
joys of Easter Sunday.
PREPLANNING YOUR FUNERALPreplanning your funeral assures you and reassures family members that arrangements will be made according to your wishes. Booklets are available to guide you through the scripture and hymn selections, offering excellent suggestions to make your funeral liturgy personalized. Please contact (877-4404) Father Rick, Sister JoAn, or Mary Harter who are more than willing to help you with these arrangements. Preplanning
family members by having your choices in place and eliminating time-pressed or uncertain decisions.
Baptism - As a parish, we welcome the newly baptized NASH DALE & DAISY MARIE BRAEUNINGER, children of Drake &
Jessica.

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has formed a task force to monitor the Mahomet Aquifer and maintain a reliable source of
safe, fresh drinking water for over 500,000 central Illinois Residents. This action is primarily the result of leadership by Senator Chapin
Rose and other legislators but also by the public outcry and support by many citizens including members of this parish to protect this
essential life source.
The Mahomet Aquifer Protection Task Force was created by Public Act 100-0403 to address the issue of maintaining the clean drinking
water of the Mahomet Aquifer. Task Force members are required to conduct a study of the Mahomet Aquifer to:
Develop a State plan to maintain the groundwater quality of the Mahomet Aquifer;
Identify potential and current contamination threats to the water quality of the Mahomet Aquifer;
Identify actions that might be taken to ensure the long-term protection of the Mahomet Aquifer; and
Make legislative recommendations for future protection of the Mahomet Aquifer.
More information can be found at epa.illinois.gov.
